An Autumn Poem.

Greeny, greenish, greenly, green

coppery, coppery, hue.

Reddish, reddish, brownly, bronze

orangey, yellowy, too.

Bok had just picked-up the scent of a Pheasant, which he then chased into the air.

My son is in Berlin at the moment; on business. No I don't know your old song, but I do know Harvest Moon by Neil Young

I love autumnal woodland, the colours and the scent of rotting leaves.

Those of us who live here would know at once that the photo was taken nearby. It's a very typical scene.

The French oak always amazes me - red leaves in autumn - and red acorns too!

I love Harvest Moon by Neil Young!

Oh hope He enjoys , the weather seems better since yesterday, we had heavy rain for 2 weeks, which spoiled a bit the autumn colours. It's a song from the 16th century and my little son learnt it in the kindergarden.

I like your poem! And how beautiful your surroundings are...you live in paradise.

There's a small plantation of those Oaks just beyond where I took the photo. They are amazing colours, but as they are planted in lines; not very photogenic.

Thank you Jennifer; you're the first to mention my wonderful poem.

Great poem - which describes autumn perfectly. I'm going to put your name forward for the next Poet Laureate.

Could I suggest that woo might be changed to hue. Just a thought.

Frankly I'm surprised this hasn't been done before. Thank you.

I have followed your advice (of which I approve), but I don't want it to sound too 'precious'. I'm more from the McGonagall school of poetry than Wordsworth.

Cro Magnon said...

I hope you now teach him the Neil Young version.

We sing it already.

I love that you have a copyright for this oh, so colorful poem. Now, no one can steal it.

A small masterpiece of Autumn I would say, and picture greatly enhanced by dog.

They've been queueing-up.

Bok brightens any picture. He's a star.

Brought tears to my eyes and of course I'm going to steal this little gem. Happy Autumn.

Cro Magnon said...

Tears of joy, I hope? Autumn's going quite well so far; plenty of sunshine and not too cold.

Quite a palette of colours you have there in your lovely poem Cro.

Cro Magnon said...

Very colourful everywhere here, but I expect it is in Spain too.

Alas, not really. We're a little bit too far south, and not high enough in the hills to enjoy the real autumn colours. The leaves just turn a sort of dead browny gold and then drop off the trees. However we can crunch through them, before they are swept away by the wind. We also have pines which stay the same colour whatever the weather. The rest of our plants in the garden are still flowering, but not so profusely now. It's been down to 11º C so far this month, with a high of 25º on a sunny day.
I really miss the autumn colours - it's such a beautiful time of year, so thank you for posting the photo.

This made me smile. Three times. Once for Bok, once for the beautiful autumnal scene and once for your masterpiece. Is there no end to your talents?

"Brownly, bronze." I like it.

Cro Magnon said...

Good; that was its purpose.

Simple is often the most expressive. This fits the bill.
