Twas thus in 2007.

This was the state of the garden in 2007 (pre 'tower' days).

Since then our Cox's Orange Pippin has died from an attack of Honey Fungus (No 11), Haddock's End is now called just plain 'Haddock's, and 'The Park' has been totally renamed 'Haddock's Paddock'.

I can see that I shall have to do a 2014 version; especially as Freddie (bottom left) no longer scares the bejeezus out of mice, and that the Seagull (top left) never really existed.

We also have a bit more land now, and an almost completed new orchard, so I might need a bigger piece of paper.

The cat and mouse are brilliant.

Nice to see the lay of the land - I spy a Pomegranate tree - do you ever get any?

We do get smallish fruit, but they are inedible.

I love maps, especially ones of this kind. You have inspired me to try to do one of my own gardens.

I think you may have started a rash of maps here Cro! I'm with Bramble Ramble and inspired to do one too.
I like that it is a picture map.

I love your drawing Cro ….. do you do one every year ? They would make a lovely series, framed and on the wall.
Do you have a medlar ? I bought one for my sister and brother-in-law for Christmas and a hazel tree with truffle spores on the roots. I guess, where you live, you can go hunting for truffles can't you ? XXXX

Do draw out a new one and post them side by side so that we can see the improvements (or otherwise) - will do you good too as you can view all the things you have done.
Which part of Shropshire did you live in? I lived just outside Wolverhampton (where I taught) for almost twenty years and went into Shropshire most weekends to walk. Our nearest town was Bridgnorth.

This is great Cro. I just did one for chez rusty duck, although nowhere near as artistic of course. No cat. Plenty of mice (not drawn).

I like Freddie. The map didn't look like Shropshire to me.

I love the way you illustrate things. You have inspired me - I might have a go at doing something like that for our little piece of France. I shall include the bats, owls, lizards and other critters.

There's a Medlar nearby (wildish), and yes there are also a few Oaks about that have been impregnated with truffle spores. I've not tried finding them.

My people retired to Shropshire (from Sussex). They lived in a small village called Welshampton, Nr Ellesmere.

No mention of your tower-house?

First sentence. It was drawn pre 'tower'.

Freddie has given up on mouse catching?

They're getting too fast for him!

For some reason I couldn't access new posts last night so have only seen this this morning. Looks good (Bears no resemblance to when I last saw it).

How much land do you have now?

Nice plan. I need to draw some up for here as it's nice to have a record of what you did year by year. I always think I'll remember but then I struggle to remember what I had for lunch yesterday!

Ah. Wasn't concentrating. Silly me. Where's the apostrophe in 'twas?

Cro Magnon said...

Not sure exactly, but another acre or more. Not a huge amount.
