Lost s/p; re-found.

I was sent this picture yesterday, as a birthday card. I hadn't seen it for decades.

How young I look, and how neat-n-tidy; not at all like me these days. And where's that scruffy beard?

Yes folks, I was once almost respectable looking. I'm not sure quite what exercise I was setting myself, but I still have the tie.

  2. You look very serious. A nice painting, although I wouldn't have recognised you.

  10. An exercise in how not to give any thoughts away. There is determination in the mouth but I can't work out the eyes at all. A good equine nose.

    1. I think I must have been going for that blank look that so many American primities achieve. No expression; just features.

    1. More 'ratting' these days. I do still own a suit, but it's of the crumpled linen type.

  12. We were all once young and beautiful. I don't expect you were wearing shorts beneath your suit jacket.

    1. I bought the suit just before going out as a guest lecturer, to teach in the Caribbean. I knew there would be smart parties, etc, to attend. In fact it was so bloody hot that the suit remained unworn.

  13. A very button-down Cro. Time moves on and we change in all ways. What would the mature (I did not say old) Cro now say to that handsome young man in the picture?

    1. Probably to 'relax' a bit. I look rather stuffy.

  14. You look distinguished, as you do now but in a slightly more relaxed way. Not man of the world but man who knows the world

    1. It was done at a time when I needed to be respectable, and (dare I say it) authoritative. Thank goodness those days are now behind me.
