Desperate Times.

Lady Magnon asked me to buy a few Apples after my recent doc's appointment, but being France, and being just 2.30pm on a hot weekday afternoon, both the village shops were closed.

We're in between fridge-freezers at the moment; the old one is on its last legs, and the new big silver job doesn't arrive until the 25th. It was time to finish-off the last of last year's Blackberries.

Lady M is nothing if not resourceful; so instead of Apples she decided to use Bananas (which we had in abundance).

Banana and Blackberry Crumble? Yup, it was VERY good; in fact I've advised her to take-out a copyright on the recipe!

I wish I could give you a bucketful of blueberries from my backyard. They're just about ready. :)

  3. A weird combination - something I would never thought of - I still have quite a bit of fruit in the freezer from last year - must do something with it all soon to make way for this years harvest.

  5. I'm trying to clear the freezers as one is on its last legs. I have a large bag full of blackberries, might give this a try, which was the strongest flavour?

    1. Blackberry; by far.... but she only used one banana for about twice the amount of berries.

  7. It's berry time here and if the weather cooperates I will be taking the g-kids to a local farm this week to do some picking. They can bend so much easier than I.

  10. I am waiting for our blackberries to ripen here on our property, and will remember to add a banana--It's a good twist to one of my summertime favorites along with ice cream!
