On this (yesterday's) morning's early walk, I noticed that the Dog Roses are now in bloom. Of all the wild flowers around us, I find these the most beautiful by far.
I would happily dig one up, and transplant it to my garden. It would compare very favourably with most of what I have growing.
Back home, and here are the boys waiting for their "Amazingly, I came when called" biscuits. Notice Monty's smile!
Ah, my lovely boys. If only they wouldn't moult all over the bloody house.
We have four dogs and one's a long haired German Shepherd, we can knock socks off Arizona tumbleweed with the size of our fur balls x
ReplyDeleteDoug is constantly vacuuming Sophie's hair from all the carpets. Surprising she isn't bald.
ReplyDeleteThese two are amazing; I have to sweep several times a day!
DeleteLoving the dog roses - everything in your part of the world is so far ahead of us - I have one or two that have self-seeded in the garden - the thorns are vicious. It's weird how short-haired dogs shed their coats - whereas we had a long-haired dachshund once who didn't shed at all.
ReplyDeleteI once pulled a twig off a dog rose in the hopes that it might root…it didn't ! I recommend the delights of a mini schnauzer…….just muddy paws on the carpet, no fur! My previous dog moulted like yours do…..all year round.
ReplyDeleteI have a dog rose in my front garden and have no idea how it got there! We have been harvesting rosehips from it for a couple of years now. I'm with you, the most beautiful plant.
ReplyDeleteI think I shall dig one up.
DeleteI think they are pretty hardy, and you might even get to see a few more blossomings which you wouldn't have from a cutting, given your advanced years...
DeleteI do like the dog roses, I have three I think in my edible hedge. It looks like three anyway!
ReplyDeletedog roses and dog moult, all in the same post.
ReplyDeleteI’ll have the roses, please. My Millie moults like mad at the moment. Every shake she does propels a cloud of fur and dust. Still, I love her, so must put up with her anti-social behaviour.
I need a dedicated Eee-z-cleen 'dog room'.
DeleteSeeing a wildflower always make me smile - like Monty.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted a Labradoodle or a Goldendoodle, beautiful, fun dogs that don't shed.
Moulting beats licking enough fur off in order to produce a hairball that can then be hacked up into a convenient spot.
ReplyDeleteoh those dogs are adorable,
ReplyDeleteBedlington lurchers only moult in "tumbleweeds" that can be picked up with the finger and thumb. I toss them out for nesting birds.
I put my 'sweepings' out for the birds too. I've even found small nests lined with 'Monty'.
DeleteThe only one of our three that sheds is Miss Betty the Corgi. And she drops enough to weave a Mojave carpet.
ReplyDeleteIt is your lawn that took my breath away!
ReplyDeleteWelcome Tom; I take this as a sign of 'well being'.
DeleteI love dog roses as I love their simplicity compared to some of their more blowsy cousins.
ReplyDeleteYour lovely boys look as soft and as silly as lights …… they must be such precious company while Lady Magnon is away. XXXX
The dog roses are right up my alley...so simple and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWe put the dog's brushings out for the birds too...I love watching the birds come and gather it up.
Monty has the cutest smile!
I love Monty and Bok! Such adorable pups! They deserve lots of treats!
