I'm sure we've all had Liqueur Chocolates in our times, but I'd never before come across these.
Young Wills recently gave these to Lady Magnon, and they are quite superb.
Beautifully presented, they are made from really good quality dark Chocolate, with a genuinely delicious 'Williams' Pear Liqueur filling; not at all like those horrid things, with crystallised sugar inside, that were handed out in the 50's and 60's.
Such things tend only to appear at Christmas, so I shall hunt around and (if I find them) buy a good supply. It would be worth it; one of these a day would be perfect.
They sound delicious. I only eat really dark chocolate
ReplyDeleteThey are really very very nice; not at all like those liqueur chocs of old.
DeleteI hear that you are supposed to have five a day.
ReplyDeleteI'd make that six, if I could!
DeleteThey look like a decent size, not your average chocolate box offering?
ReplyDeleteAnd a good slug of alcohol inside too.
DeleteOh, they look a perect gift for my hubby, who loves pears, dark chocolate and brandy.
ReplyDeleteAs you say; perfect! I hope you can find them. I don't know the makers name.
DeleteSee below!!
DeleteI found these if that helps?

Thanks... my wife had thrown away the empty packet.
DeleteBeats our whisky flavoured chocolate sent by our friend in Japan.
ReplyDeleteNext time, get him to send a packet of Japanese dried Plums.... delicious.
DeleteHer actually. Jap dried plums sound interesting. I will ask.
DeleteI think they're 'pickled'. They're called Umeboshi; delicious!
DeleteLooks nearly as good as a mouthful of Cadburys flake washed round with a swig of Newcastle Brown.
ReplyDeleteOr some Pork Scratchings with Irn Bru.
DeleteWe were so disappointed by our Christmas chocolate liqueurs this year. There wasn't enough liquid in them to even crystallise. Yours look wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLook at JayCee's comment above... those are the ones!
DeleteLooks wonderful. We got some chocolate liquor ones recently from a fine chocolate emporium and they were marvelous. Surprises are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteWhen they're good, they're very very good. When they're not, they're ghastly.
DeleteLike you I have a beard. I've never managed to eat liqueurs without getting a sticky beard. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThese are bottle shaped; you nip off the top and have a swig, then consume the rest later. No sticky beard, no dribbles down your shirt, and no wastage of Pear liqueur.
DeleteI like the look of those ! We’ve nearly finished the Christmas stock of Bendicks Bittermints and the Prestatyn sea salt caramel truffles 😋 XXXX
ReplyDeleteSpellcheck changed Prestat to Prestatyn ! XXXX
DeleteAll our Chocs are now finished. As well as the above we had a box of obligatory Chocolate truffles, and a huge selection box of Lindt dark Chocks. Both bought by me, and envied.
DeleteIt looks superb - unlike many liqueur chocs which often have plenty of choc but not much in the way of liqueur.
ReplyDeleteAs well as unpleasant sugar crystals inside (which I believe are a sign of poor quality Chocs).
DeleteI have a favorite place in Fredericksburg, Texas that makes and sells liquor filled dark chocolates that are delicious. I never buy any from other places. They are expensive, but you can choose the liquor you want in them - everything from wine to Irish whiskey, etc. I think the name of the shop is Quintessential Chocolates. It's a "go to" whenever we are in the area. Your chocolates sound wonderful too.
ReplyDeleteOne of my flats in London was above a 'bespoke' Chocolate maker shop. I used to buy there once a month as a special treat!
DeleteSounds a perfect combination! I love Poire William. I use one of the empty bottles for decanted olive oil in my kitchen cupboard.
ReplyDeleteI have a litre bottle of Pear Eau de Vie which stays untouched. I have tasted it, and it's wonderful; but it's about 75% proof, and not my bag!
