Bloody Cars.

Fizz, steam, hiss, panic, HELP, jeeeeze, garage, hands in air, shaking head, expensive, next week, take numbers, order radiator.

Yesterday: deliver car, no new radiator, wait half an hour, radiator arrives, walk around village, bloody hot, watch mounted Gendarmes riding about, visit church, back to garage, more head shaking, mon dieu, yellow liquid, prepare bill, pay bloody fortune, stinking hot, drive home, throw myself into pool, cold beer, life OK again, relax, breathe.

The radiator in my car went bad last week. I was sad to hand over all that money but so glad that it was fixed quickly. I need my wheels.

Phew, car repairs are always so expensive; but I'm glad all's well and you're relaxed again.

What a pain but now it is done and the pool is always the answer.

Mine was fixed quite quickly too, but the cost!

Nothing worse than being without a car, and we have just the one.

It felt so good, especially as I was very hot.

They start to go wrong. They start to cost money. A lot of money. What did I say about mine?

Some 'youths' ran across my husbands car recently..bonnet, roof, boot.....the police say that as they don't have anything on cctv there is nothing they can do.....so because other people didn't raise their children to have some respect we have a bill to pay on bodywork...and the insurance say it's a write off!

I'm of the Basil Fawlty ilk. If a machine doesn't work, I want to give it a good thrashing.

That is so annoying. A few seconds of unthinking bravado, and it costs someone a fortune. I suppose that's all part of the buzz.

You need a teeny Skoda. Mine gives me no problems! x

The Compact Royce is usually problem free, but nothing's perfect.

My husband's car was viciously
"keyed" a couple of years ago. When he took it in for an estimate, the garage guy was sympathetic, and "consoled" him with the story that someone had brought in a brand new Mercedes, that had also been ruined, less than a week after it left the showroom !

Cro Magnon said...

I bet that made him feel better!!

You must have been dreaming about your pool while you were hanging around waiting for your car to be fixed! There is a village bar near our garage which is handy to while away the time in while we wait for the car to be fixed.

Mounted gendarmes in a village?

I was looking at the photo with interesting puzzlement. There seems a lot of room inside it for a modern car and the fittings look very substantial for a modern car too.

I don't understand a thing from the photo, but i undrestand the feeling of being without a car in a hot day:)

It did, until he saw the estimate !

Doug's grand daughter bought a "new to her" car about six months ago. Last week she had some electrical trouble and took it to an auto electrician. Her partner is a sharemilker and her car has been housed in a shed on the property. She was told that the problem is rodents and the estimated cost is $9,000 plus.

Luckily her insurance will cover this and she is waiting to hear whether it will be written off or not.

We have just had to buy a new battery for ours. It was only 3 1/2 yrs old, as is the car. Sure don't make things like they used to....

I sat by a river in semi shade and watched the Gendarmes.

Cro Magnon said...

They seem to turn up once a year, to make their presence known.

Cro Magnon said...

Horrible, but I only had an hour to wait.

Cro Magnon said...

Rats have eaten her car?

Batteries are very expensive these days.

The fan on mine conked out on Monday..thus no air con…..but my clever husband fixed it yesterday!

Cro Magnon said...

Unfortunately I don't have a clever husband, so I have to rely on expensive mechanics.

Bloody French cars?

I've never seen mounted gendarmes around here. Got overtaken by two in a canoe on the Dordogne a couple of years ago.

Cro Magnon said...

Bloody cars in general!

Graham Edwards said...

A mounted gendarme in a canoe: the mind boggles.

Cro Magnon said...

I've seen them twice. Both times were in Sauveterre, and both times my car was at the garage.

It's always in the dead of winter or heat of summer that a car goes crazy and sucks up any extra funds meant for other things. Glad it's been resolved quickly.

Cro Magnon said...

That's so true; everything comes at once.

As long as there is a beer and a pool at the end it's a good story.

There wasn't all this aggro in the days when we rode a horse or used shanks's pony, was there?

Susan Heather said...

JUST the wiring.

Cro Magnon said...

And as long as I'm not 100% broke too.

Cro Magnon said...

We've talked about getting another horse, but...
