This young lady is called Jaelynn Chaney, and as you can see she's quite large.
She is currently running a campaign against airlines that charge her for TWO seats, if she occupies TWO seats. She thinks she should only be charged for ONE.
What do you think?
Poor lassie.
ReplyDeleteShe'd fit right in working for the NHS, she could save up and move to the USA where once again she'd feel at home.
I'm not sure, but I think she may be Canadian.
DeleteCanadian you say.........Explains why the world tilts that way.
DeleteYup she is Canadian and wants the Canadian policy of “one person, one fare” to be adopted in the US. For domestic travel on Air Canada you can get an extra seat free of charge but need to have the right documentation.
DeleteI didn’t know that, so learnt something today, thanks for the post Cro
I'm not so kind, put her in the hold with the rest of the heavy goods. Why does everyone have to have a campaign of some sort going on. I agree about the staff of the N.H.S. all being overweight.
ReplyDeletePeople everywhere are fighting for some personal cause or other. My logical attitude to this woman is that if you occupy TWO seats, you pay for TWO seats, just like the rest of us. Being over-sized is no excuse not to pay your way in life.
DeleteA sad case. I know what it's like to be overweight but I'd never accept it as normal. If she wants to travel she's going to have tremendous difficulties. First of all fitting into a car seat to get to the airport At that size buying 2 seats is essential. She's going to have to cough up. The airlines I'm sure help where they can but providing free seats is not on the list. She's got to accept she's not your normal person and act accordingly.
ReplyDeleteI have nothing against people being over-weight, it's a matter of choice (except in certain genetic cases), but she'll have to accept that it comes with consequences. The airlines will always help people who have difficulties, but this doesn't run to half price seats.
DeleteI wouldn't like to be sitting next to her on an aircraft. She would be encroaching into my space!
ReplyDeleteShe might even make you pay for the pleasure.
Deletepay for 2 seats definitely or don't travel on airlines. Imagine trying to get past her in an emergency, she's not exactly going to be in a hurry when she's that size.
ReplyDeleteYou're right, she could well cause a danger to others.
DeleteOccupy two seats, pay for two seats.
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for the airline that charges by weight - weigh passenger and luggage and charge based on total weight.
I can't see anything wrong with that.
DeleteI think she should change her name to something more traditional - like Alice or Elizabeth - as Jaelynn is a ridiculous and fickle made-up name that I would not give to a hamster.
ReplyDeleteI've also seen it written as Jae-lynn, which is even worse. You'd need to live in Memphis!
DeleteI think you are all being very cruel.
ReplyDeleteFrom Jaelynn Chaney (JayCee).
I don't think it's cruel at all. No-one has anything against people of large stature, it's simply this nonsense of demanding half price seats. What about very tall people, or extremely thin. Should they have special terms too?
DeleteI was joking......
DeleteI wasn't sure. I'd hoped you were!
DeleteI've seen this. Why is everyone so entitled nowadays ? If you were very thin, the supermarket isn't going to give you two pies for the price of one to fatten you up ! ...... I was watching Ricky Gervais yesterday on the same subject ..... so funny. Also, you are not allowed to say ' died ' or ' killed 'on some social media platforms ..... you have to say ' unalived ' !!! It's in case you ' trigger ' someone ! The world has gone mad. XXXX
ReplyDeleteAll this 'Woke' nonsense is changing so much of what we always took for granted. I try to ignore it, but it's not always easy. I read this morning of a man who said to a female co-worker that his wife had the same handbag as her. He was taken before a tribunal (and found innocent, thank goodness).
DeleteOh for goodness sake ..... I am a very peaceful person but this sort of thing makes me so angry. I don't know what I'm allowed to say anymore. It's because of questioning and debate that we achieve things. XXXX
DeleteRyan Air sell Comfort Seats next to your own seat. I get more annoyed with the airplane food and drink trolley in the middle of the aisle. Especially when you wish to use the toilets.
ReplyDeleteI haven't flown for years (thank goodness).
DeleteOh dear, she is a big girl, isn't she! If she wishes to occupy two seats then she must pay for them.
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more with Jacqueline, her comments about entitlement and not being allowed to comment on certain matters are exactly what I was thinking.
It has become totally crazy, and I can't see an end to it.
DeleteI have a friends who is blind and travels with a seeing-eye dog. The airline does not charge him extra for a seat with room for his dog to settle at his feet. Arguably for many obesity is a medical condition, how is this different?
ReplyDeletePersonally I see it as very different. Blindness is a condition that needs care and assistance. I often ask blind people if I can help, but I would never do the same for a super-sized person.
DeleteDidn't read the comments yet...but it is up to her whether they charge her for more than one seat.
ReplyDeleteIt's also up to her whether she abides by airline rules or not.
DeleteLose some weight or pay up. Simple.
ReplyDeleteEchoing my thoughts .
DeleteI think that's what most would suggest.
DeleteNot sure about this one, Cro. From her point of view, she is one person so why pay for 2 people, but on the airlines side, she is taking up another seat that would be occupied by another paying person... so who's right?
ReplyDeleteBy most standards the company would win and she would pay so they wouldn't lose money. Right or wrong, generally that's the way it is.
She might be one person, but if she occupies the spaces of two people, what then?
