I have mentioned on several occasions, that on my brief 'Officer Training Course' the first thing we were taught were the hard-n-fast rules of all warfare.
On page one of the 'How to win a War' book was written 'Know your enemy, go in strong, and go in hard'.... Also to prepare one's 'end game'. I think that advice is as important today, as it was when the (fictitious) book was written.
Frankly, Tru*p has dithered in Iran, and has ended-up with a total mess, not only in Iran itself, but also in the Straits of Hormuz (which Iran still controls). He has had no real success against Iran's war machine, and has already made an agreement to give them $Billions to rebuild the bits he's knocked-about a bit. The war itself has already cost the USA many $Billions, and Trump will soon be asking Congress for MORE!
You certainly don't start negotiating 'ceasefires' when the job is half done. What he needed was to destroy ALL OF THEIR rocket launching, and 'enrichment' sites, all of their barracks, all of their air and naval forces, and all of their runways and ports. He also needed to liberate the Iranian people themselves, and establish some form of democracy. Only then might you 'negotiate'.
Where are all those 'clean' Neutron Bombs we kept hearing about? They could have finished this 'war' in a couple of days!
Tru*p will now come away much poorer, whilst leaving the same regime in place. Iran's military capacity is still very strong, whilst his own is depleted. And he has still not gained control over Hormuz. At the moment he knows that the more infrastructure he destroys, the more it'll cost him to rebuild.
So far, I would call that an Iranian win! So why would they bother to negotiate?

Trump was led into the conflict by Netanyahu when he should have consulted carefully with US military experts. They would have predicted the current scenario.For his efforts I hope he is awarded two Nobel prizes - The Nobel Warmonger Prize and The Nobel Massive Cock-Up Prize.

I don't understand how he can jump from 'negotiating' one day to bombing again the next, then repeat, and repeat. We never know where he is from one day to the next. Sorry about the pic.
I am also offended by that photo. He might of had the US equivalent of The Corps ( more commonly referred to as marching up and down at my Alma mater) by going to the NY Military Academy but he did everything he could to avoid the real thing.
As YP said this war is all about October 7th. Trump had no plan. I wonder where things would be if he hadn’t ripped up the JCPOA?
As for changing his mind. he signs a “deal” with KSA and within 24 hours says they have to join the Abraham Accord.
He needs to make his mind up, and stick to it. Churchill didn't dither.

From what I have read about Churchill, which isn’t a lot, so I may be wrong, I get the impression he actively chose strong-willed advisers, military chiefs, and political rivals who were willing to challenge his ideas. From what I have seen of Trump (too much) and read about him (a lot) Trump does the opposite, he surrounds himself with sycophants and yes people. Don’t forget he knows better than everyone - think how many times he has said “I know lots about X, I know more about X than anyone”.

Those among us who are 'calloused' to the myth of higher virtues and noble intent (me) see the 'saw tooth' peaks and valleys of rising and falling oil prices relative to the Iran 'on again off again' war. Some might think our fearless leader is intentionally manipulating the oil markets so others (his family business) can make billions buying and selling oil knowing the whens and wherefores of the next great diplomacy effort/failure. I'll go back to weeding my garden now.....
He's making a real mess of it. Surely he has advisers who could talk to him?

As a mother in America, I am not willing to put boots on the ground to save the world anymore. In the meantime, the world does not have to worry about a nuclear bomb landing on their cities or long range missiles hitting Europe. I would caution all of us from listening to legacy news. They are constantly wrong because they are malign. toward Trump, America and Israel. The leaders of Iran (Persia) like ancient Egypt are committing suicide. The people of Iran need to be able to govern themselves because we are NEVER going to do another Iraq again! Death from above kills many innocents below. Please pray for us. And remember, America does not get our oil from Iran through that strait. Please pray for American and thank God Iran is not nuclear like North Korea. They did the same thing when they built up their long range missiles and drones to the point no one was willing to challenge them when that evil little man gained nuclear weapons. The world is a complicated place. Who is willing to send their children into that vast nation to clean it out? Please, pray for America. We are trying.

You say the US is never going to do “another Iraq”….hmmmm, this little “excursion” as the orange one like to call it, doesn’t seem to be going particularly well.

Kathe, I know exactly how you feel. If only Tr*mp had gone in correctly, and somehow got the people on his side to establish democracy, things might now be better. He has wasted the opportunity, wasted money, and is threatening long-term peace in the Middle East. He should have shown real POWER, and stopped these lunatics as quickly as possible. Too late now of course.
It's not too late. It's inevitable. Be patient. I want to "bomb them into the iron age" too until I remember the Iranian people are dying by the tens of thousands trying to rid themselves of what we are targeting. Trump really was targeting the nuclear mountain. Remember, that's how it all started. Those who remain fighting in Iran are truly cleric zeolots who want to end the world. It's hard for our western minds to wrap itself around this. Trump showed again this week he is not going to be pushed by the likes of Zelensky or Neyenyahu. Unlike the senator we just buried, he is not a war hawk. In the meantime, the only folks really affected are the ones flying the night missions and their families.
If he was targeting the nuclear mountain why did he rip up the JCPOA? I would be really interested in your opinion on this matter. It is not often a Trump supporter puts their head above the parapet on blogs. DO I take my hat off to you.
That agreement was put into place in 2015. I believe the outcome of its effectiveness that drove Trump to go after that mountain (see Iran's threatening comments to Marco Rubio on the closeness of being nuclear) answers any questions about the danger of non interference. Weeks away. I'm still shaking my head at Obama's decision to send plane loads of cash into Iran. We live in a dangerous world, don't we? You can take your hat off or keep it on. Your head is safe with me, sir. :)
As I expected you have drunk the Kool-aid. THe JCPOA was negotiated over a couple of years and Iran agreed to restricted enrichment to less than 4%, the country also reduced its stockpile by 98%, and there was international monitoring. Ripping up the JCPOA was one of the stupidest things that Trump has done…and, oh boy, he has done so many.. Had the JCPOA still been in place the enrichment wouldn’t be where it is!

I do like to discuss. Especially when I can sense the other person is a truth seeker. Looks like you know what is hitting the fan in Iran tonight. Perhaps this is what we all are hoping for. The end of the crazies. In Iran at least. The enrichment is sleeping under a mountain. It will be interesting watching how they excavate it. Whatever you feel about Trump. He's not boring. :)
A school-friend of mine lived in Tehran during the early 60's, and he loved it. The Shah was still there, and life was reasonably liberal. There were still public hangings, but it was only for the very worst criminals. Everyone was treated fairly and equally, it needs to return to those days.
You can't beat a bit of insider trading. Having been on the London Stock Exchange myself; I could write a book about it (and a few of the more famous culprits).
