Bread

My son Kimbo is a man of many talents, and this last weekend he aimed that talent towards bread-making.

Personally I've not had much success with bread baking (other than Soda Bread), mine tends to come-out a bit 'cakey'. I don't think I have enough patience.

Kimbo's was an International co-operation. The wholemeal flour he bought recently in France, and the yeast in England. It seems as if the union was a perfect one. Entente cordiale.

I tested his skills as Toast and Marmalade; in this case with Rose's 'Lemon and Lime'.

Well, his bread-making skills are far superior to mine. It was really very good. As good as any Bio Wholemeal Bread I've ever bought.

If he's thinking of changing profession, I would suggest that baking could be a good option.

I can tell it's good, with lots of butter and an excellent marmalade. Life is great. Well done Kimbo.
Makes me want to make a loaf.

Coincidentally my friend visited yesterday with a bread maker machine that she no longer uses. She suggested that I try it out. If mine turns out like Kimbo's I shall be very pleased.

Óooo that looks yummy. I might try a loaf today 🤔

Me too, but I know that mine would be rubbish!

People do seem to be very pleased with their bread-making machines. Good luck.

We should all make our own occasionally.

Looks good. I purchase marmalade from Cottage Delight; they are in Leek but I get a dozen assorted flavours at a time. A delivery would last a year if folk would stop stealing it.

With his many talents, it is clear that Kimbo must take after his mother.

I noticed the Rose's Marmalade quite recently, and it took me back to my childhood. It was a bit sweeter than I would have liked, but very nice.

Boom boom!

The smell of bread baking is enough for me let alone the eating of it ! My dentist bakes bread in the surgery plus makes a pot of coffee. It relaxes the most nervous of patients. XXXX

I have bread rising as I write this.

Don't they say when selling a house you should fill the air with the smells of bread-baking and coffee!

Well done, I envy you.

Fresh made bread is wonderful. Congrats to Kimbo! I like my house to smell of coffee or chocolate... but fresh bread or cookies works too!

Freshly made bread is wonderful. Your toast looks very tasty. Kimbo can likely share his breadmaking recipe and technique with you. You could run the breadmaking business.

My favourite house aroma is Roasting Turkey, but we only have that once a year.

I eat; he bakes! It was very good.

Well done Kimbo! That bread does look yummy, and I'll bet there's none left!
Rose's Lime and Lemon marmalade used to be a favourite of mine when I was young and my mother used to buy it specially for me. I haven't had any for years but can still recall the tangy taste!

Cro Magnon said...

I was the same about the marmalade, but I was a little disappointed that it was so sweet. I had imagined it being more 'tangy'; even so, there isn't much left.

That's why I eat the Cottage Delight stuff it's plenty of fruit in without too much sugar. The Roses stuff is heavy on the colouring and sugar as are many of the propriety products.

Home made is always best. In whatever recipe where it says equal amounts of fruit to sugar, I always use 600 gms of sugar to a kilo of fruit.
