Take four ingredients. A slice of wholemeal bread, some butter, an egg, and some Worcessscesstershire sauce (I'm not counting Salt-n-Pepper).
The wholemeal bread is a good source of fibre, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. It is nutrient rich, containing the bran and germ from the whole wheat kernel.
Eggs are also an important food. They contain protein, vitamins, mineral, healthy fats, and essential amino acids.
Butter is surprisingly good for you. It contains vitamins, calcium, and essential Omega 3 fatty acids.
As for the Worcessscesstershire sauce, it simply contains niceness.
There you are. The perfect breakfast. A fried egg on toast with LOTS of freshly ground pepper. Quick, easy, cheap, and most of all; it's GOOD FOR YOU and tastes nice.
I'm all for a breakfast like this. Simple and delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely, and so simple.
DeleteYes please, but make mine a poached egg and no butter.
ReplyDeleteI keep meaning to try poaching Eggs in the microwave. I'm sure once I've done it, I shall give-up frying. Lots of Butter for me please.
DeleteI use the microwave mug method. Simple quick and effective.
DeleteJust boil water in the kettle, half fill a tall mug, break in the egg and zap for 50 seconds.
That's the method I want to try. I will tomorrow!
DeleteMy goodness , you certainly like black pepper...assuming that black stuff is all pepper!?
ReplyDeleteYes, it is. Plenty of it.
DeleteJust getting a handle on a T2 diabetes diagnosis and diet. THAT looks like a perfect brekkie
ReplyDeleteI am Type 2, but frankly I never bother with diets.
DeleteLike JayCee above, I prefer poached eggs. Over the years, I have become pretty proficient at cooking them successfully. Key to my preferred method is a little frying pan with an excellent non-stickable surface.
ReplyDeleteYou should also try to use very fresh eggs that hold together.
DeleteI'm going to try the microwave method, everyone says it works really well.
DeleteWhoa, that's a lot of pepper. A great breakfast. A bit unusual for you. No octopus, black pudding
ReplyDeleteBe patient.... Octopus to come.
Deleteprick the yolk with the point of your knife before microwaving, or you might find it explodes.
ReplyDeleteReally? No-one mentions that in the recipes I've read.
DeleteMy egg would have to be poached, just dropped into a pan of boiling water, most mornings I have porridge with a dollop of lemon curd.
ReplyDeleteI have some Harrods 'Lemon Curd'; lovely.
DeleteLooks delicious. I had this for dinner last night.
ReplyDeleteBreakfast, lunch, or dinner; perfect at any time.
DeleteSimple food, is sometimes the best.
ReplyDeleteI think it's always the best. I can't stand 'nouvelle cuisine' with foam and flower petals all over the place.
DeleteI love eggs whatever way they come I am really good at fried eggs ….. no snotty white but runny yolk. . I love poached eggs but am rubbish at them. I’ve tried every which way so I am going to try JayCee’s method. XXXX
ReplyDeleteI don't like scrambled eggs, but omelets, fried, poached, etc, I adore.
