Billy has a huge selection of balls, there are over 20 in this old cauldron by our front door.
In the park where we go for our walks, there are always a few lost balls that Billy manages to find and bring home. They are usually black and stinking, so I give them a good wash, then put them with all the others.
Someone somewhere must be buying a lot of Tennis balls on a regular basis, and replacing them as soon as they are lost.
One day (nearer Christmas) I will put them all in a box and take them back to the park.
The people who are losing them need to let their dogs know that retrieving them is part of the game
ReplyDeleteEither that or not let Billy walk off with them.
DeleteWhat a wonderful idea to return the balls at Christmas.
ReplyDeleteA big pile of clean tennis balls will make a nice present to all the other dog owners.
DeleteWhat a lovely idea, Santa Paws.
ReplyDeleteHa ha.... I might sign it that!
DeleteThat's a nice idea Cro, but will Billy spend next year taking them all back!
ReplyDeleteQuite probably. Nothing this morning.
DeleteThose are nice bright balls. Great work! Good boys, Billy for the fetching and you for the cleaning.
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning is the worst bit. I've suggested we put them all in the washing machine, but someone says 'NO'.
DeletePerhaps the dogs would prefer the stinky version rather than those nice clean ones!
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly, but they ain't getting them.
DeleteThat reminds me of finding lost golf balls when walking past a golf course. I toss them back onto the green in the hope that someone comes along and claims them.
ReplyDeleteWe used to live by a golf course and did the same; only I kept them!!!
DeleteWhere I walk in the mornings....one of the men is a tennis player and he brings old balls for the dogs and leaves them on a windowsill for people to take. ( Partly because his dog is always stealing other dog's balls!!)
ReplyDeleteThat's nice. My wife takes one every day which is often lost, so it's swings and roundabouts.
DeleteA walk in our area has a purpose built ball box at the start of the walk. You just take a ball from it and return it aftwards, that way nobody needs to bring a ball with them at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea. We have an emergency poo-bag box, but it's usually empty.
