A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
What a lovely scene. Summer is almost here although we have had some promised showers and the temperature has dropped. I just lit the fire. According to "Weather" it is 14 degrees.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going downhill here; nothing above 25C on the horizon. The pool was 20C yesterday, pointless keeping it open.
DeleteLovely photo of what looks like a family gathering.
ReplyDeleteNow if Summer isn't at your place, then where is she?
Her friend Spring is most likely hanging out with her because 'she' definitely hasn't arrived here. Bet they both decide to arrive together in late October :)
Rather cool here in Melbourne today as well - 14c and our heating is on as well!
At least you can look forward to warm weather, whilst we can only expect cold. My youngest son used to spend your summers in Oz, and our summers here in France. A very sensible boy!
DeleteVery dull here and it is raining. A wet cat has just come in. Lots of puddles so rain obviously fell in the night but it is still warm and house does not need heating on.
ReplyDeleteLight drizzle here, which is annoying as we're about to close the pool. I've never done it in the rain before!
DeleteOutdoor pools, private and public, tend to close here at the start of September when the schools go back. Traditionally they open again on the 1st May or the following weekend. Brave souls will continue swimming in the 'Alte' Donau for a while yet.
ReplyDeleteNormally we close at the end of September, and open again 1st June. 4 months swimming pa.
DeleteIt's raining quite well here (we closed the pool in rain). We are promised rain for tomorrow too, so maybe there'll be enough to bring up some mushrooms.
ReplyDeleteI remember this photo. A nice family picture with the men sitting happily eating and drinking and the women standing around ready to serve.
ReplyDeleteProbably the women are all happy to do, it is their job, their place in life. They are surrounded by their children and are content. Mothers in law looking on too!
It is the happy family that attracts you. I'm sure in villages all over europe these gatherings still happen and not much has changed.
Family gatherings are hard work but they bring loads of joy, laughter, happiness and very full tummies. We are fortunate to have our family close and any big celebration takes place with all the family present. Hard work!
Yes, it is hard work, but everyone enjoys such occasions; even the workers. I wish we had more of them!
DeleteI too remember this picture that so beautifully represents our heart's wishes for a close and warm family.
ReplyDeleteIt says everything about close family life, the love of food, and summer.
DeleteUnmistakably a photo in Italy. I think the Italian phrase is la dolce a vita.
ReplyDeleteSomething similar anyway. La dolce vita was a great film (if I remember).
DeleteWe are still getting temps above 90F, and I am tired of it. I love summer, but this one has been difficult. I am so looking forward to sitting outside and wearing a sweater.
ReplyDeleteVery autumnal here today, although it's now sunny and warm again. We should have waited till this afternoon to close the pool.
DeleteRain, rain, rain forecast her for about a fortnight !!! This morning the heavens opened. We haven’t had a downpour like that for months and months so it is welcome. As much as Autumn is wonderful, it’s sad that Summer is coming to an end but, it won’t be long and Spring will be back with us. Thank goodness for the seasons .... each one has something to offer. XXXX
ReplyDeleteYes, still raining here, on and off; occasionally quite hard. WE may have the same again tomorrow. Still, it's not cold, and every time it stops we rush out and do everything we need to do.
DeleteSome rain here until midday and then dry and warm. People walking about in tshirts now.
DeleteIt is time for summer to end here. Our temp. have been in the 90s since forever.
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait for some real heat, then we have too much, then when it's cooler again we complain. Much the same with rain.
DeleteIt has rained non stop here all day.
ReplyDeleteHere too, with intermittent sunshine. Same again today I think.
Delete17 degrees and mostly wet here although we did manage a couple of hours work on my daughter's new garden
ReplyDeleteSounds like here. I had to run to Haddock's to pick Kale yesterday evening, it started to rain again just as I got back to the house.
DeleteGosh I love that picture too. That's what I want in my life!
