How to make Bouillabaisse.

There is more rubbish spoken about the recipe for Bouillabaisse, than there is even for Cassoulet.

    Oh, maybe that's what bouillabaisse is all about...
    I didn't go to the link, pressed for time today at the computer.

    1. It's both; you start with the soup, then finish with the fish etc.

  2. I saw Rick Stein do a Cassoulet the other night on his old French barge trip. He made it look and sound very simple. Perhaps I will see him do a bouillabaissse when he reaches Marseille.

  6. I was tempted to order one after reading a poem called Bouillabaise. It came in a big pot like you'd use for an indoor plant. It was hot and filling. Ideal on a winters day.

    1. They can be very different, from left-over cheap fish with a few spuds, to a selection of exotic fish with a variety of seasonal vegetables.

  7. Sorry Cro - I love fish and eat a lot of it - but my fishmonger deals with heads and tails. I can't bear the guilt of eatinc a fish with its accusing eyes looking at me.

    1. "Guilt"? My mother (about your age) used to suck the eyes out of fish served whole. Which made my father's [eyes] roll; her children torn between admiring her audacity or plain recoil.

  9. Haha, this is great! All the modern shows with hipster men bonding over the cooking pot seem so contrived when you see this. All you need for a proper meal is one guy in charge to shake the pot and a gang of sous-chefs to smoke, drink and make agreeable noises around you!
