Summer evenings.

There really is nothing nicer in the world than eating outdoors with family, then talking into the late hours accompanied by a few glasses of rouge.

Unfortunately my son and daughter in law have now returned to London, and I'm already missing those evenings of irreverent banter and world-righting.

Suddenly it's already begun to feel autumnal, and any temperatures above 30 C will now be rare. Even eating outdoors will probably soon become the exception.

Kimbo (above) has promised to return before winter, so the solutions to any remaining international dilemmas will just have to wait.

  1. Awww. I love though putting the world to rights, late evenings. I usually get bit by a flying something or other though so I have to dress like a post box.

    1. No biting nasties here for the moment, but we are expecting a Hornet invasion before too long, when the grapes ripen.

  2. The evenings have turned much colder here unfortunately - so no more sitting out for us unless it's in thermal underwear.

    1. We have a covered terrace, so even if it's raining, it's usually warm enough to be outdoors.

    1. He looks very much like me. I think there is a load of electrical gubbins in there.

  6. You could have found a better place to drain your cheeses Cro!
Sitting with family, putting the world to rights with a glass or two THE BEST!

    1. It does look like I'm draining cheese, but the only cheese there was in our conversation.

  8. Like you,we have been sitting outside at night enjoying these wonderful summer evenings. When it gets cooler, we will turn on the heaters to help the season last longer. The moon has been magnificent this week with no clouds disturbing it's splendor. I am looking forward to tonight's super moon.

    1. Liberace had outdoor central heating; I'd thought he was the only one.

  9. My daughter Kat isn't arriving until mid September this year. I fear that we shall be well into autumn by then and we won't be enjoying many al fresco meals.

    1. No, it's her big little sister. Rabby and me are off to visit Little Stalky in Sydney in November. I don't know when LS might get to visit us here again :(

  10. My daughter and I have lots of lively debates in which we solve all of the world's problems. Our setting isn't quite as pretty as yours though!

  12. New rain clouds gather as I go outside to cook tea. Looks like we will be eating indoors.
