TODD RUNDGREN I Saw The Light 1972

I recently heard this song in the background of a Bingo advert on TV. It immediately brought back memories from just before I moved to France. It took me a while to find-out exactly what is was, and by whom; but here it is. You may remember it from all those years ago too.

  1. I was listening to Meatloaf's Bat out of Hell album at the weekend. Rundgren was brilliant in the late seventies.

  2. I saw Todd Rundgren play in Central Park, New York in the late 1970s. I have no idea how we got a ticket or where from. My vivid recollection of the evening was of people smoking pot in broad daylight.

    1. No Todd Rundgren here, but plenty of feral pot smokers.

  3. Thanks for that blast from the past. By the way - did you? Did you see the light of The Lord shining down upon you?

  5. Have always loved his music. We went to a concert of his down in Boston about 5 years ago. He was playing all his old standards but with a progressive/funky punk/new age/art rock twist to them all. It was...different, and I rather enjoyed the show, once you got used to it. However, and I'm not exaggerating, half the audience had walked out of the theatre by the end of his 1st set. Guess they went looking for nostalgia and didn't get exactly what they were looking for.

    1. If you have to play the same songs every night for 30 years, the singer quite naturally changes them over time. We all want to hear the originals, but they're never going to be the same. I once went to a Van Morrison concert which was the same.

  6. Camille, I love this song so much. And it comes from one of the greatest albums ever recorded..."Something Anything" featuring other greats like 'Hello it's Me' 'Black Maria' and a personal favourite 'Cold Morning Light.' They don't produce music like this anymore.

    1. It's a beautifully crafted song. Good tune, good lyrics, good orchestration; what more could you want.

  7. Easy listening, but not something I would add to my playlists.
