Other than having a break-down near Brive, their journey went according to plan (ahem!).
The big German car is now at a specialist garage having its gearbox looked-at, and Kimbo is driving a courtesy Renault Clio. He's not happy with it, although to me it looks perfect.
Above, Harvey J helping Uncle Claude.
The Fire Brigade made an appearance.
Unwanted boarders were given fair warning.
And so to lunch.....
Yup, it's all aboard HMS Dangerous Fun for the next two weeks.
Wonderful! I can't wait to hear all about your adventures!
ReplyDeleteLast night we had a 'camp fire', plenty of story telling, and the boys slept in their caravan. Great fun.
DeleteThat is the post i was waiting for:) looks fun.
ReplyDeleteWe all had a great day; the weather could be better though.
DeleteHeaven on earth. Did Bok rub his eyes in disbelief?
ReplyDeleteHe's been having a ball. He adores the boys.
DeleteFantastic! Love the watering can.
ReplyDeleteWe needed it last night, we had a real blaze going..
DeleteI like the lunch. Cool fresh and tasty.
ReplyDeleteThose boys are so lucky. An adventure holiday!
Bizarrely, the one thing they always ask for are 'Grumpy's hard boiled eggs with mayo'. No idea why they find this so special.
DeleteOnly 2 weeks?
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, yes.
DeleteI liked the colour of the caravan. I don't know why anyone would have a big German car but hope it gets fixed.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I've been telling him; he doesn't listen.
DeleteDoes the fun begin at 5.30 am for them as well?
ReplyDeleteA tad later; more like 5. 55 am.
DeleteBrilliant ..... the boys must love every minute .... there are even tractor rides ... delicious food and a pirate hideout ... I wish that I was one of your grandchildren !!! XXXX
ReplyDeleteWe cater for all tastes. A bit rainy here this morning.
DeleteI am sure the boys look forward to their vacation and adventures with their Grumpy all year long. You and Lady Magnon are making many wonderful memories with your family.
ReplyDeleteIt's their alternative home. Last year a friend of Harvey's Skyped him and asked if he was 'at home'. He replied 'Which home do you mean?'.
DeleteWishing you the best of times with your family.
ReplyDeleteIt been pretty good so far, and we're only on day 2.
DeleteHow could they not have fun. Are those deviled eggs? My grandkids love them too.
ReplyDeleteHard boiled with Mayo and a sprinkling of Curry powder.
DeleteMemories are made from doing things, not from things themselves. You are helping to create the memories they will have for their entire lives. That's great that they slept out in their pirate caravan! -Jenn
ReplyDeleteThat's our aim for their time with us; do as many things as possible. New experiences.
DeleteOh My Goodness, this looks and sounds like so much fun. How lucky the boys come and spend a "summer in the country" with grandparent in France.
ReplyDeleteA dream of mine.
cheers, parsnip
I'm tired. Too much rushing around.
DeleteThat's healthy tiredness, Cro :)
DeleteWhat lucky boys!
Greetings Maria x
I was even more tired last night. I must be doing something right!
DeleteGrandpa may be tired but what a wonderful summer these children have with you and Lady Cro. They'll remember them these days when they're old and grey, god willing.
ReplyDeleteI certainly still remember some of my childhood holidays; mostly on family farms.
DeleteJust imagine, in 50 years time, men telling their grandchildren about the summer holidays when they were young. 'We had such great times with Grumpy'
ReplyDeleteThat would be nice, wouldn't it.
DeleteThat salad looks delicious - recipe please as I am having visitors at the weekend.
ReplyDeleteNothing special Weave. A shredded Little Gem lettuce, a rough cut Tomato from Haddock's, and halved hard boiled eggs with Mayo and a tiny sprinkling of Curry powder. The boys love it.
DeleteAh. Childhood moments on holiday to be recalled so many years later - one hopes.
