A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
The clip won't play so I can only guess at its content.
ReplyDeleteA good friend of mine chewed thoroughly, nay, thoughtfully, in a meditative kind of way. What would take some a few minutes to wolf down, some fifteen minutes to enjoy, he'd savour well past the plate's cold-by-moment. It wasn't so much agonizing to watch as vaguely (why?) disturbing. Maybe, of course, he was a cow reincarnated. Have you ever watched a cow chew, from side to side as they do? Puts you in a trance.

Try to find it on YouTube; I quite expect it'll remind you of your friend.
DeleteKeith has gone full circle and come back as a hipster. Mike Leigh at his best.
ReplyDeleteHe's also very much like an old college friend (who was chucked out). My friend looked very much the same, but spoke with a strong Caribbean accent; an odd mix.
DeleteApart from the play itself, it also holds many memories for me as to where I was and what I was doing at that time. (All good).
DeleteIt was very much of its time.
DeleteMy most favourite Mike Leigh play .... even better than Abigails Party and I loved that one too !!! Say goodnight to Prudence !! XXXX
ReplyDeleteMine too Jacqueline; without doubt.
DeleteIf we all chewed for so long there would be no conversation at a table.
ReplyDeleteI like her accent.

If you ever have the time (a wet Sunday afternoon perhaps), it is worth watching the whole play. It'll be something you'll never forget.
DeleteAbsolutely brilliant play, I love it.
ReplyDeleteA classic; one of the best ever.
DeleteThere's nothing like a good dose of discretion.
