Palm Sunday.

I can't tell you what 'Palm Sunday' is all about, but I can show a photo of the small procession through the churchyard this morning.

The man in the habit is Brother Sam from The Society of St Francis (a monk), followed by Father Dominic our church priest, followed by a couple of Donkeys and singing parishioners.

Quite fun.

  2. Palm, or Passion Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four canonical Gospels.

  4. That is a lovely procession. I am not a church goer. Easter Sunday is next weekend and I will roast the traditional ham with all the side dishes and deserts. I remember the palms being distributed to church members on palm Sunday. Our service was always very serious and somewhat ordinary...no procession and no donkey.

    1. We shall roast a very large Turkey for Easter; for me that's the best thing about it.

  5. Was it a protest about Palm oil plantations? Hence - Palm Sunday.

  7. Yesterday they paraded the streets here, carrying huge palm fronds. Not being religious I'm afraid I don't turn out to watch the procession.
I thought lamb was the traditional Easter meat?

  8. Commercialism is trying to make Easter as big a money-spinner as Christmas, Valentine's Day and all the other cynical nods to tradition.
