I adore Labs. too, any colour, although all five of mine have been yellow! Two were equally as good at the vets as the one in the video, the other three always had to be dragged there. It took half a bag of treats to persuade one to get out of the car!
Lovely Labrador! Ours love the vets because the vets - and the nurses - and the receptionists - all make a big fuss of them, accompanied by biscuits, of course. You've got eight pints of blood, so you won't miss a little . . .
I also adore black labs. My own black lab died 2 weeks ago, suddenly and unexpectedly, right before my eyes, at home, in less than 90 seconds. The vet suspects a cardiac event/clot/aneurysm. It hurts even more as he was only 14mths old. I feel like I will never get over it. He was seemingly a young, fit, healthy dog.
I'm very sorry to hear that. It's horrible when our lovely pets die. Our Monty was just 4 when he was 'put down'; we think he was poisoned by a neighbour.
What a sweet Lab. The Vet liked having a lovely willing patient too. Blood draws can be tricky and not always easy. My neighbors have Black Labs and they are wonderful dogs.
My parents had a black lab who adored licorice. When a grandchild walked by, he couldn't control himself. He quickly snagged the licorice from her hand, ducked his head under a coat hanging over the back of a chair so that no one could see him eating it. All done in less time that it took to type this. Pairing the two different videos was uncomfortable.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
That had a 'sting in the tail'
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sorry about the last bit.
DeleteI know very few humans who would be so sanguine.
ReplyDeleteI go for a blood test in about one hour; I know I shall squeal.
DeleteThat's a very well trained dog.
ReplyDeleteAlmost too well trained. Mine have never been like that.
DeleteI adore Labs. too, any colour, although all five of mine have been yellow! Two were equally as good at the vets as the one in the video, the other three always had to be dragged there. It took half a bag of treats to persuade one to get out of the car!
ReplyDeleteWe had a yellow one (Monty), he was OK with the Vet' but was always very pleased to get home.
DeleteI think that that black Labrador is what is known as a Zen Dog. So chilled out.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he'd been doped!
DeleteI felt uncomfortable watching that cro
ReplyDeleteWere you waiting for Bonzo to take his arm off?
DeleteNo cro, I thought it could be seen as rather racist

I'm just back from having blood taken, and I can assure you that I was less well behaved than the dog; but only a little bit.
DeleteDelightful dog - he obviously knew what was coming and had implicit trust in the vet. Absolutely perfect - loved the kisses.
ReplyDeleteHe's a lovely dog. Wonderful to see such trust.

ReplyDeleteA pair of Black Labs is almost the pinnacle of dog keeping. Fabulous dogs.

ReplyDeleteI worked in the Veterinary field for 20 years and Labs are great dogs... not all as trusting as that one, but one of my favorite breeds.
ReplyDeleteYes, our Monty was a lovely boy.
DeleteI wouldn't mind three kisses from my Doctor.
ReplyDeleteI might decline from mine; he's not my type.
DeleteClever dog! The trick is always never to look at the needle.
