Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
I was surprised to read that his mother is buried here.
ReplyDeleteHis family background is all rather complicated.
DeleteHis mother was an Orthodox nun. Her story is sad, and remarkable.

ReplyDeleteI believe she went bonkers (technical term).
DeleteI liked Prince Philip .... he fulfilled his role perfectly for over 70 years, supporting Queen and country.RIP Sir. XXXX
ReplyDeleteHe was a wonderful man. My late Father-in-Law (a senior diplomat) met him several times, and we have the obligatory signed photo in our collection.
DeleteI think 'remarkable' is a very apt adjective. for him.
ReplyDeleteI'll genuinely miss having him no longer around.
DeleteI thoroughly enjoyed his sense of humour and fond recall the time he turned a hosepipe on to the press when visiting a Cornish Claymine in the 60's
ReplyDeleteHi Heron. Yes he was always up to his pranks. Not many other pranksters around these days.
DeleteA familiar figure all of my life. It is so sad that he has now gone. The end of an era you might say.
ReplyDeleteHe and the Princess Elizabeth were married when I was ONE year old, so they've always been a part of my life too.
DeleteI am sad that he has now departed but pleased that he and the Queen got to spend more time together in the final year of his life. RIP Prince Philip.
ReplyDeleteA good man.
