DeleteHis mother was an Orthodox nun. Her story is sad, and remarkable.
DeleteHere I am in Greece and got the news via NZ! Twice since living here I've seen a TV documentary about the life of his mother; 'complicated' isn't half of it.

ReplyDeleteHe was a wonderful man. My late Father-in-Law (a senior diplomat) met him several times, and we have the obligatory signed photo in our collection.

ReplyDeleteHe and the Princess Elizabeth were married when I was ONE year old, so they've always been a part of my life too.
DeleteI am sad that he has now departed but pleased that he and the Queen got to spend more time together in the final year of his life. RIP Prince Philip.
