A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
We used to stay in a gite near Beziers.Farmland all around. It was mainly cereal crops. When the Sun shone, which was most of the time, it made me sing "fields of gold" by Sting. I love his version and also the version sang by Eva Cassidy.
ReplyDeleteIf I hear either I'm immediately transported to Bezier.
Songs can be very evocative, and what nicer way to be reminded of Béziers. Fabulous town.
DeleteDon't play it too loud if you're feeling fragile this morning!
ReplyDeleteToo much fun is bad for me. I prefer an early night.
DeleteI love almost everything Neil Young wrote and sung.
ReplyDeleteThis one's a good version, isn't it. It's very much my favourite of his.
DeleteStill too wet here for hay bailing. I think we've exchanged weather this summer. I hear another heat wave is on its way to you.
ReplyDeleteTrying to listen to the song, which, I love, over a very loud greek song coming from out on the balcony.
No rain here for ages, and none on the horizon. My poor veg' garden is suffering badly.
DeleteGo on; turn the volume right up!
Those young ones did a marvelous job! I heard this song for the first time when you had it on your blog, I think it was over a year ago. It's now one of my favorites! TY.
ReplyDeleteYes, I posted the original version before. I liked this one so much that I thought it worthy of airing again.
DeleteThose young people did wonderful job on my favorite, favorite song.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter took me to a Neil Young concert last winter. I had never had the opportunity before, and she said that because I had introduced his music to her (because I always had it playing in the house) she was returning the favor. It was a wonderful night.
What a very kind thought by your daughter. I'm afraid over here I'm obliged to listen to him on Spotify.
DeleteWell I actually listened to it twice and then called up the Neil Young 1992 version. I hadn't heard it for a long time. I have to say that the cover version was really good. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cover of such a lovely song. Thanks for putting it on your blog, it made a winter night here feel a little bit warmer and brighter.
