All change.

Lady Magnon has been moving pictures around. She has decided that a couple of my old self portraits should come out from the depths. You may have seen both of these before.

Student portrait circa 1970.

Grumpy old git (unfinished) portrait circa 2004 (complete with cobwebs).

I wonder how long it'll take for her to get fed up with these two; no doubt they'll be back amongst the Spiders before too long.

  1. I quite like those. Did you consciously choose the other profile for the 2nd portrait?

    1. Not really, it was probably a question of light.

  2. Now you need a third portrait, wise old man.

  3. I think the second one captures you better than the first.

    1. You mean the 'grumpiness'? I was still young and flighty in the first one.

  4. The so-called Grumpy Old Git will be up there in the frame casting a critical and all seeing eye over happenings in the house.

    1. Maybe. I certainly enjoyed working on it more than the second one.

  6. The second one reminds me of the front page of my brothers' copy of The Eagle.

  7. I like them both, very much. I wouldn't be able to choose one over the other. The first in particular shows that Kimbo is very much like you!

    1. You should have seen our late neighbour; he and the Captain could have been twins.

    1. Thank you Jo. I'm a bit insecure about things like portraiture.

  13. "They" say you should move your art around so you can see it with fresh eyes. That is true but after hanging it in the right spot I do not want to move it.
    Wonderful paintings.

    cheers, parsnip

    1. One painting that Lady M moved has certainly improved with its new location. You're right.
