Bye boys, I miss you.

Kimbo and the boys' eating knives have now been put away until their next visit. Only mine remains in use (right).  Lady Magnon is much more sophisticated; she uses a pukka table knife.

For the moment enemy pop bottles will go unshot, water pistols will stay in the pump house and not in the skimmers, and the boys bikes will no longer lean against the Greengage tree. Everything's been stored away at Dangerous Fun Headquarters until their return.

It's all very, very, quiet.

Poor Cro. I'll bet your house is lonely now.

    1. That's exactly what I'll do. I feel as if a whirlwind has just passed overhead.

    1. They had a great time this year. Lots of new things. They also stayed by themselves for a few nights up at the barn; they loved it.

  4. I know that peace after an 'invasion' of grandchildren. But it's also a case of 'come back soon'. Hope they do.
Love the knives. You do so much to make those boys enjoy their time with you. Those little things like their own knives count so much!

    1. I also had a total overhaul on their bikes this year, so they were cycling around all over the place.

  5. They do leave an emptiness when they go, don't they? I hope you and lady M are ok. Another festivity (I'm afraid to say the word just yet) is around the corner and they will soon be back again.
    Greetings Maria x

    1. I've already started a list, mostly of things we didn't have time to do.

  7. Oh yes, I know the feeling too, but I also know the feeling of total relief to have the place to myself again for a while! Amazing how quickly we get used to 'normal' life again. Enjoy!

  8. When I taught school the 10 year olds were my favorite. Then, when my son was around ten, I wished he would stay that age forever! My grandson is now 10 and I'm captivated all over again!

    1. You're right, it's a fabulous age. They are so excited about everything, and desperate for new experiences. Lady Magnon says that when they reach 15, they'll be banned until they're 20. She's probably right too.

  10. Is Bok catching his breath too? What a lovely fun time he must have enjoyed during those precious happy, carefree days.

    1. He's a bit on and off with them. He loves playing with them for about an hour or so, then slopes off for a rest. They, of course, think of him as THEIR dog.
