No, not Brighton beach, but probably somewhere in 'Arabia'.
Many burka-wearing women say that they like to be totally covered, but one wonders what their husbands would say/do if they said otherwise. How can this poor woman in the photo not be desperate to join her family in the water?
Humans are humans wherever they live, and women want the same freedoms and opportunities as their sisters elsewhere. To be educated, to find a nice husband, to make her own decisions, to be her own person. These are basic desires, and rights.
I do have sympathy with these oppressed women, but if it's what they REALLY want, then OK. However, I don't believe a word of it. I mean; just look at this poor woman; obeying the wishes of her husband (I presume the photo is genuine). I can just see her thinking how nice it would be to wear a bikini, let her skin feel the sunshine, and throw herself into the cooling water.
Is there a woman in the world who really wants to be covered from head to toe in a black shroud for the whole of their lives..... and for what?
Several major EU countries are now banning the wearing of such clothes. With 'facial recognition' cameras being installed everywhere, they NEED to be outlawed.
On a personal note, I must say that I do find them quite amusing. I suppose I shouldn't laugh at them, but they do look quite comical.
Could there possibly be a sillier form of dress ???

Some years ago, I was on a plane sitting next to an attractive young Moslem woman. She defended the notion of "covering up" in an interesting way. When talking to men (she said), they are always checking out ny face and figure, rather than listening to what I have to say.
I wonder if the women do the same with men? This is part of human nature, we all enjoy the company of attractive people.
I find it terrifying. For me it's like witnessing sanctioned sexual abuse and torture. You would not be allowed to treat an animal like that yet you can treat a woman like that.
It amazes me that they don't all revolt, and throw their Burkas in the trash.
I think it's just ridiculous, but everyone to their own and I really agree with your point about facial recognition and all that. But it must be very hot dressed all in black like that, why can't they be at least white or another colour, floral perhaps?
When I talk to somebody, I want to see the face and the body language. How do I even know who hides under the black fabric?
The step from burka to bikini is very big, even a bathing costume from the 1910 would be great progress.

As an atheist I find all forms of religious dress and practices unintelligible. For example, women not allowed to show their hair, so they spend thousands on very life like wigs! Nuns habits aren’t that different from a burka. Running a wire along telegraph poles so that people can carry on the sabbath, ritual mutilation of baby boys. It’s all very silly in my view.
I live in South Devon near Blackpool Sands this is becoming a shockingly regular occurrence here in our beautiful part of the world. The poor women even have to keep their feet covered so can’t feel the sands! Helen
Black absorbs heat; it's almost like another punishment on top of having to wear them.
They can't even breathe fresh air.
It's all very sad. No freedom at all.
How do those poor women survive especially when their face is covered too. I know they have no choice when they live under an oppressive regime. It's cover or be stoned to death. But when they arrive in Britain they must want to rebel.
We see tourists from the Middle East here and they wear long dresses and cover their hair. Isn't that enough?
I have to agree, and all in the name of mythology.
I see a couple (assume married) shopping in Aldi sometimes. She follows two paces behind him. I think poor woman. But I suppose that's how they were brought up on the other side of the world. I thank goodness I was born here in the western world.
