It's a hard life.

With guests around, life becomes quite different.

Guests love to see all the sights; I don't do 'tourism'. They love to lie by the pool; we never do that.  They want to visit as many good restaurants as possible; yes, we do enjoy that, but my purse takes a battering.

Guests like to take life easy, to get up late, swim, eat breakfast at 11 am, swim, lunch at 4 pm, swim, dine at midnight, before a final floodlit swim, and bed.

In between times, we eat snails, and other delicacies,

whilst enjoying evenings out at our village Marché des Producteurs.

Then occasionally we find little gems that they leave behind, to say goodbye.

After all this I'm exhausted. I need to do nothing for a week (at least).

Sometimes it is difficult to host but it is also enjoyable.

Our recent guests were of the 'perfect' type, but it's still quite tiring.

I completely understand! Fortunately most of our guests now are repeat visitors and at least don't want to do the tourist thing, however they put your routine completely out of balance.
You'll have to move to a smaller house!

Spare hose - great present. Family from U.k.?

They were staying in the barn, so no problem there. They were lovely guests, but it's that change of routine that I find tiring.

Yes, Kimbo. See Pic 3.

It was a wonderful evening; one of the best. We were with very good friends too.

I thought it was him.

not strange, when you don't meet people that often

visitors are welcome but tiring!
We don't do touristy things either, even as visitors...much prefer to see and meet real places and people doing ordinary things

I'm probably a bit lazy, but I love where I live. I'm not a good tourist, and luckily my son has already seen all the sights.

Our last visitors stayed with us at the same time our guest annexe had been booked for B&B guests. As a result, we gave up our bedroom for them and slept on a futon and a blow up bed in the spare room for 10 days. Well, they had come all the way from Australia!

That is pure dedication! They must have been very good friends.

People who stay with us seem to like to get up at 6 and go wandering around town, so I give them a set of keys and see them later for breakfast at a civilised time - 11 or so.

My son goes 'jogging' every morning, but then takes his time over his shower, business work, and eventually breakfast. Times flies!

I don't do any of this sort of thing. I can't hack it at all.

Every photo is a gem love seeing the visit in what happened time. Someday I must eat snails like the way you do.
The first photo is so inviting.

And the older you get the more tiring it becomes - believe me. (from one who knows only too well).

Snap! Normally we encourage visitors to be mobile, but in this case it was just a flying visit. In fact Kimbo is the easiest of visitors; we love having him here.

Summer here is usually very pleasant. A bit dry maybe, but otherwise life is good.

I'm getting old too, with all the aches and pains that go with it!

I love having company but it has become harder as I get older.
