My son Kimbo recently sent me this short video. If you haven't seen it, it's worth watching.
Under 12 champion silver medallist, Xander Graham, decided to join the Tour of Britain Cycle race recently. Wearing very impressive full kit, he pulled away from the leaders for a short while. When the group caught-up with him, Dutch rider Pascal Eenkhoorn, of team Jumbo/Visma, gave him his water bottle as a souvenir.
Nice gesture Pascal, and well done Xander.
He did well, perhaps he will join the tour properly when he is old enough.
ReplyDeleteI'm certain he will, he's already a junior champion.
DeleteI hope this experience inspires Xander to become a professional cyclist himself - winning medals and crushing The Frogs just like Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call the UK 'Cycle Racing Obsessed'; unlike France. So it's not surprising that they get so bloody angry every time we win something.
DeleteIt was good to see him the next day at the team presentation before the stage as the team's extra member in team kit!
ReplyDeleteIt also shows how cycling is, spanning generations, and helping each other.
A good example to the many newbies taking up cycling, not just those into racing
A very good advert' indeed. Yes, I did see the next day photo. Well done all.
DeleteIsn't that so cool, and nice. I've just realised as fellow bloggers we have something in common. Our blogs are both a mad woman's breakfast.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't possibly comment about that!!!
Delete*looks across the top of my morning cup of coffee in amazement* Just what are you two trying to say????
DeleteHe'll never forget that moment! How sweet.
ReplyDeleteIt'll encourage his future too.
DeleteOh lord the bikes are back
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, Trelawnyd is safe!
DeleteA professional cyclist in the making. All done thankfully without a crash/pile-up.
ReplyDeleteOr drugs.
DeleteMaybe he's been sniffing Farley's Rusks.
