  1. Yes, to concentrate on likes rather than dislikes so much more uplifting. Not that occasionally being down in the dumps isn't instructive.

Make mine a Sauvignon Blanc, and we'll discuss Camus' take on absurdity.

    1. Perhaps a third list of 'apathy' is also in order.

  2. You forgot the licorice.

    1. The most underestimated cut of Lamb; and the very best way to use it. It's my simple version of a Greek Kleftiko.

  4. 11. Mature Cheddar Cheese.... have you visited SuperU yet for some of their mature English cheddar.
Genuine 12month minimum stuff from Wyke's of Zummerzet!!

    1. I buy some Scottish Cheddar from Leclerc. 'Seriously Strong Extra Mature'; it's very good.

    1. Rained here too, with some thunder. More storms tomorrow.

  6. No music on the list? I felt sure there would be space for The Cheeky Girls.

    1. I suppose there'll have to be a best and worst 20 songs list. I predict they might appear on the latter.

    2. Eh? Who can doubt the beauty of their song lyrics, as in "The Cheeky Song":-
I never ever ask what's in your mind
I never ever ask if you'll be mine
Come and smile don't be shy
Touch my bum this is life, ooh

  8. We have wild mint all over the place at the retirement property. It always reminds me of haying season, and my father. Good list.

    1. Lots of wild mint here, it makes such a beautiful aroma when mowed.

  9. A good list. Like Yael, number 6 will do for me.

    1. It's a good one to like, in today's circumstances.

  10. Good to see that positive list! I enjoy it - it reminds me of J.B.Priestly's "Delight", though he puts every delight into an essay. If I counted right Priestly describes 114 delights.

  11. Lots of delicious things on your list. You've mention lamb breast before and I'm dying to try it - for a country that will nose to tail lamb as a patriotic duty, I've neither seen nor heard of the cut. I do rather prefer the up list to the down one.

    1. The Lamb might be sold as Breast, Belly, Ribs, or even Flank, in Oz. In the UK it's always 'Breast of lamb'. Look for Kleftiko in my search strip, you should find my recipe there.

  12. I can identify with almost all of these Cro - and if possible I would appreciate your recipe for home made humus please.

    1. For a start I always use tinned Chick Peas. To one tin I add one large teaspoon of Tahini, the juice of half a Lemon (maybe less), one clove of Garlic, a good pinch of Cumin, Olive oil, and some Chick Pea water to thin. After it's whizzed into a paste, you can see what it needs, or even what you need to add less of the next time. It's really a bit hit-n-miss the first few times, but once you get to know exactly how you like it; it's child's play.

  13. Interesting. For me much more difficult to limited likes to 20. Agree with no 2 completely. Would also add good coffee, Wagner, Diego Riviera, moss, cats and intelligence

    1. The problem with such lists are all the 'essentials' that one realises one's left out.

  14. I liked reading about your 20 best and all the comments. I'm another number-sixer.
No 9 and no 10 go together . The greatest of pleasures.
And no 19 a big yes, the ideal temperature.
