The Plank: A Sunday Special.

Save 30 mins of your time today for this. If you haven't seen it, and it's a dull rainy Sunday, this classic bit of 'silent-ish' movie from 1979 could be just up your street.

It probably has more famous names and faces of the time, than any other comedy short, and is a perfect example of British humour. Be prepared to laugh for the whole 30 mins.

  1. While I normally refrain from matters of blog when on holidays, I have the show on DVD and it's one of the finest pieces of comedy in my opinion. The use of noises perhaps started by Jacques Tati is brilliant. It must be time to watch it again. I know all the cameo actors by sight but not all their names.

    1. What an amazing array of comedy actors; some appearing just for a split second. Wonderful film.

  2. Laughed a lot. Joanna Lumley probably only one still alive. All the greats of Britis comedy plus James Hunt. So very Eric Sykes. Thanks. X

    1. Yes, I was quite surprised seeing Hunt in there. I don't imagine anyone who was invited, turned it down. Wonderful cast.

    2. But, it wasn't the original... this is the TV version. Good, but there are other actors missing. And some plot parts, too
The Plank [original version] was filmed in 1967 and Rhubarb in 1969.... Rhubarb was also remade for TV in 1980.
They are both still good, but lacking something....

  3. Oh I saw that on a BA plane years ago while waiting to land and I thought it was just brilliant!

    1. Not at all. The Morris Minor is a classic. I never had one... I can't think why.

  5. The Plank is a real classic. I remember watching it with my father on several visits back home. He just loved it

  6. Am in a minority here I am afraid. You did invent the laugh track?
