Double Trouble.

Each Saturday we buy a dozen eggs from a nice old man at the market. Depending on the weather, they are either quite grubby, or, as at the moment, are very clean.

So, what's so odd about that Cro? I hear you ask.

Well, from the five we've already eaten; ALL OF THEM have been double yolkers.

I have a feeling that all the rest will be too!

    1. Sure did. I've never know quite so many. We've since had two more and they were the same.

our two laid doubles right at the start.... they've just come back on lay after their moult but seem to have settled themselves down this year... the last ten eggs have been sixty grams each.

  10. I used to be so thrilled to get a double yolker when I was a child..and the yolk always seemed to be very yellow back then too......and police men didn't look like 12yr olds and the sun shone in the summer etc.,etc.,

  11. You've reminded me of the double yolked eggs we would find amongst those delivered by our egg man from Harshbarger's Hen Haven Farm, back in my Virginia childhood. A sweet memory, and so I thank you.

  13. Because of the risk of avian flu all hens have to be shut in here until the end of February. Our hens absolutely hate it and are only laying a few eggs as a protest. They often lay double yolkers too.

    1. I'm not sure what's happened here about Avian Flu. I did hear about flocks of Ducks being slaughtered, but that was last Summer.

  14. Love those double yolks. A great excuse for frying up twice as much bacon.
