Bok; frustrated farm dog.

There's nothing Bok likes more than keeping cows, sheep, children, or even hens in their place. Here he is with next door's Blonde d'Aquitaines, making sure they don't misbehave.

He's missed his vocation.

  1. I was half expecting to find a Corbyn post here too but I found good ol' Bok. What a relief. Keep up the good work Bok.x

    1. I'm a tad bored with Corbyn. Bok would round up the whole bloody lot of them, and probably heard them towards a precipice.

  2. Dogs are much nicer than politics.

    1. And they sit on your lap.... that's more than Corbyn would do.

  3. Clicking and seeing the enlarged picture is so beautiful, the cows with the sun on their backs in that glorious countryside and Bok standing guard - perfect.

  5. You just made this farmgirl's heart skip a beat; had never seen Blonde d'Aquitaines before and now I'm in love!

Guess poor Bok will have to be satisfied with herding you.

    1. They are a local breed, and just beautiful. The Yellow Labs of the bovine world.

  6. What a wonderful picture! You should paint that scene.

    1. I have painted it a few times, but without the cows.

  7. I've often thought cows had rather beautiful eyes, but I never thought of cows themselves as being particularly good-looking. Until now. I've never seen blonde cows before, but those are definitely beautiful... like palominos of the bovine world.

And Bok. Of course, Bok is lovely. And hard at work. Once a herder, always a herder.

  9. I am getting the idea that Bok is a splendid dog, a dog who gets to involve himself in many dog endeavors, thanks to you.

As a recent reader here, could you tell me and other newcomers how you and Bok first met?

I'd also like to compliment you on this photograph. A particular moment in a particular place. A story begins in this picture.

    1. Bok came to us via Monty. At about 6 months old they became best friends, and were hardly ever apart. Bok lived about 300 metres away, and spent all his waking hours playing with Monty. Eventually his owner realised that the situation was hopeless and asked us if we'd like to adopt him officially. We said YES PLEASE. Now, sadly, Monty is no longer with us..... just Bok.

  10. Frances...Bok is like no other. For me, there's something almost mystical about him.

Cro...please take the time to tell Frances how you came to share your lives with Bok.

    1. Thank you Gail, and also Cro for your reply. I am a true dog lover, who will not have my own dog as long as I live in a small NYC apartment.

Of course, I am now quite curious.
