Almost the whole of June was beautiful; we swam every day, ate outdoors, and wore shorts and T shirts from dawn to dusk.
Now that July is here the skies are covered (as is the pool), we've had intermittent rain for days on end, night-time storms, the temperatures have dropped, and we have returned to eating indoors.
Our long term forecast offers no real improvement, and temperatures are destined to stay around the 20 C point. The Solar Cover on the pool means that the water retains some of its previous warmth, but it has already dropped to below 25 C.
It's all rather depressing. I shall return my knitted swimming trunks to the 'Summer clothes' drawer, and do some work on the barn.
Of course inclement weather does occasionally have certain advantages, we suddenly have another crop of Girolles (below).
Hopefully you will get summer back soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm still wearing my shorts and T shirt, just in case.
DeleteIt's disappointing here as well.
ReplyDeleteIt is stuck in a place called Bath.
ReplyDeleteIt was Schorchio here yesterday - today rain :(
ReplyDeleteThose girolles are south mouth-watering that it is almost worth having dismal weather for them. I saw that the Tour de France were cycling through wet weather - luckily it was full sun when they were here (not a very common weather condition up here in the Dales).
ReplyDeleteWe're having a great Summer, thanks very much (he he).
ReplyDeleteThe one we're having would probably considered 'great' back in Britain (he he).
DeleteBrilliant weather here too Cro so far.
ReplyDeleteI so remember knitted swimming costumes. They were fine until you entered the water, when they immediately sank to the knees. My sister and I both had them, with big buttons to attach the straps to the bodice.
Nightmare. I'm not sure if I ever had one or not, but I do remember people wearing them.
DeleteDuvet's back on the bed and I'm wondering whether the tomatoes will ever ripen this year. Nice cycling weather though.
ReplyDeleteI keep checking my tomatoes; still all green, but masses of them.
DeleteWe had a beautiful June, also, but July has been stormy with destructive winds. I just heard that "the polar vortex", that was a big part of our winter from hell, may return next week to a large part of the country. Maybe this is impacting on your weather also.
ReplyDelete'Polar Vortex' sounds like a nasty illness.
DeleteI'd gladly send you some of our hot weather, even when it rains it just gets steamier. You just wait the storm out and dive back in the pool. We haven't had a day below 90º in I don't know how long.
ReplyDeleteIf it's not one thing, it's another.
DeleteHere in Finland it's exactly opposite. The June was awful, it just rained and rained and rained... But now the July has been great!
