It's so damned quiet.

It's 6pm, and about 23 C.

Monty is chewing on a bone, Bok is off chasing lizards, and Cro is sitting in the shade of the Quince tree (with my shorts on) enjoying an early glass of rouge.

It's warm, and the Quince flowers are dropping like confetti; everything is very quiet.

I'll soon get used to Lady Magnon's absence, but for the moment the silence is DEAFENING.

  2. The wisteria looks good (as does the wine). She must be due "down-under by now.

  3. Good thing you've got your blogger mates to entertain you, especially some their late late night barmy conversations.

  4. I've been on my own at Lovelygrey Cottage for the latter half of this week. My peace will be shattered tomorrow evening by the return of Louis my eleven year old from a holiday with his dad. I now love it that my life has that contrast between quiet and the out and out noisiness that living with a young boy provides.

    1. I do actually enjoy being by myself (for a while). My wife knows this, which is why she's quite happy leaving me to run riot for 6 weeks.

  5. Can't imagine leaving Louis to run riot for six weeks. Really don't know what I'd come home to!

  6. I really don't mind being alone during the day but I like a bit of company in the evenings - husband is away visiting his brother at the moment and it feels like a morgue round here. At least you have your lovely pooches to keep you company.

  9. It was a beautiful day yesterday but I don't think I'm quite ready for shorts. (Although I have swapped my slippers for flip flops.)

  10. I do love my quiet and alone time, but six weeks would be too long for me. You do, though, have a beautiful place to spend your days.
