The leaders of Scotland's SNP, N Ireland's Sinn Fein, and Wales's Plaid Cymru, have all recently got together to talk about their mutual desires for independence from England.
At present the only member of the four nation 'United Kingdom' to NOT have it's own Parliament is England. Scotland, N Ireland, and Wales each have their own Parliaments, where English MP's do not sit. It really is about time that England had it's own Parliament as well.
Personally I am all FOR their independence. It would save England VAST amounts of Tax-Payer 'Barnett Formula' money. The three newly independent countries could all remain members of The Commonwealth (if they wished), but would not be eligible for 'Foreign Aid' from England.
I would suggest that all major English companies that are presently installed in any of the three other countries should return to England. Each of the newly independent countries would need to raise their own taxes, pay for their own defence, pay for their own unemployed, and pay for their own schools and hospitals.
They would also no longer benefit from the BBC, The NHS, The Passport Office (they'd need to have their own), or even The DVLA.
If, after a referendum, the three countries voted to remain in the UK, may I also suggest that England holds its own referendum and becomes a unilaterally independent country; leaving the others to go it alone.
It's about time that N Ireland, Wales, and Scotland all stood on their own two feet, and didn't rely on the generosity of England to keep them afloat. It would be fun to watch how they get on!

What ever happened to Cameron's English votes for English laws - why do we let MPs from the other countries vote on England-only legislation?
It has to stop. We don't vote on their legislation, so why should they vote on ours?
I am all for an independent Yorkshire, including reclaiming our ancient boundaries. The population of Yorkshire is higher than that of Scotland and yet we have not received the kind of preferential funding that Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have benefited from. FREE YORKSHIRE FROM THE LONDON TYRANNY! VOTE EE-BY-GUM!
In a newly Independent ENGLAND, Yorkshire would be eradicated, and in future known as Ee-By-Gum-Eastern Lancashire.
It's interesting that the Oxfordshire village of Piddington has voted to leave the UK in a symbolic referendum over the illegal migrants.
Not that the government care.
Although not sure that I'd want Yorkshire or even Cornwall to push for Independence. They're so much part of England.
I remember our former Queen being thrilled when Scotland last lost the vote for Independence, as she had a strong connection to Scotland. Apparently Cameron let the cat out of the bag to the media. The Queen was not amused.
But yes, I would go along with your original plan for Independence.
When Lisa Nandy was asked on TV this morning if the government would take any notice of the Piddington referendum, she simply said "No". Firstly they must install road barriers and demand to see passports (passport to Pimlico style), and make their feelings known physically. Once elected, governments couldn't care less about the wishes of the electorate.
Sussex would become the private fiefdom of The King and Queen of Sussex along with their children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Their subjects would be required to lie prostrate on the ground whenever their mighty rulers passed by.

You raise good points about what people would lose if the countries became independent. All think about the currency, people’s pensions etc. People vote too much on feelings without thinking everything through - rather like the ridiculous “I want my country back” As I have said before people had no idea what they were voting for - and now the idiot that was largely responsible for that ridiculous outcome is campaigning to be the next PM!
Scotland (I don't know about the others) says it wants to rejoin the EU, but it would have to adopt the Euro, and that comes with requirements. I don't think they really understand all the repercussions. They could easily find themselves left in limbo.
Scotland voted to remain, so that makes sense. They didn’t fall for Boris’s ridiculous “Get my country back” claptrap. Will be interesting to see what the EU Associate Membership entails.
