There's no question about it; Spring has definitely Sprung.
The trees are 'greening', and there are Bluebells in the churchyard. Sadly I think they're Spanish Bluebells rather than our natives, but even so they do look very nice. You might just see the church in the background.
Meanwhile in our own handkerchief-sized garden, we have some lovely almost black Tulips, plenty of Nasturtium flowers, and our Grape Vine has leaves.
Billy has also been feeling the effects of Spring, and has been enjoying what all male dogs enjoy at this time of year. His taste in 'partners' is none too selective, and their owners very understanding. I had thought that after having had the 'snip' that his ardour would have waned; but not at all. He doesn't stop. He's an embarrassment!!!
Lovely. A nice time of year for a drive in the countryside.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite time of year (apart from Christmas).
DeleteAnd summer because as you have said for years and years on this blog, summer is your favourite time of year which you put down to being a summer baby.
DeleteYes, that too. The only season I really don't like is Winter.
DeleteBlack tulips! I've heard of them, maybe from you, but never seen one. And your nasturtiums have flowers. Ours are still blooming. I love the colours.
ReplyDeleteThe bluebells are gorgeous.
I only noticed the Nasturtium flowers yesterday. We'd had a tiny bit of overnight rain, and I think that must have encouraged them.
DeleteWho me dad!
ReplyDeleteYes YOU! Naughty boy.
DeleteHandsome Billy looking very casual! He looks like Jake, a friend's collie who always runs to me for a treat when he sees me on the field.
ReplyDeleteThey are usually very friendly dogs, and I read that they are amongst the most intelligent and easily trainable; although in Billy's case I'm not so sure.
DeleteI love this time of year. The new green growth is so vibrant. I remember reading ‘ The Black Tulip ‘ when I was quite young. XXXX
ReplyDeleteWasn't that a Dumas novel? I can't remember what happened but weren't they trying to breed a black Tulip? I must consult Mr Wiki.
DeleteNaughty Billy - the look on his face is a mixture of innocence and what a spoil-sport humans are!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo of the blubells. The black tulips are lovely - I once planted some supposedly black bulbs but they bloomed a much lighter purple.
Ours aren't as black as I'd hoped, but they're not bad.
DeleteI don't know a lot about dogs but what I do know is that male dogs tend to copy the habits of their pack leader - which in Billy's case in fragrant Brighton happens to be you!
ReplyDeleteMy rutting days are over; Lady M has insisted!
DeleteEnjoy the springtime.
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous today. Perfect Springtime weather.
DeleteThe bluebells in the churchyard are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen a black tulip. A few deep purple tulips are around but rare.
Even Billy knows, Spring has sprung. He looks very handsome and innocent in the photo.
Don't be fooled, he's a wily old beast.
DeleteProper training will stop a neutered dog from humping other dogs.
ReplyDeleteAre you applying for the job?
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteJust came across your blog. :)
The bluebells are wonderful. Is that church local to you? It looks like part of a wonderful walk.
Liam.
Welcome Liam. The lovely old church is just a stone's throw away, and I pass through the churchyard twice a day. I even attend a service there once a year; at Christmas.
DeleteOur oldest son planted 120 black tulip bulbs the other year. He thinks the squirrels got to them as he only had maybe ten flower.
ReplyDeleteWhich he missed as he was away teaching at the military college. His brother who was house sitting for him had to send daily updates on the tulips.
Our tulips don't usually flower until May. But right ow the tree buds are very visible.
The Squirrels haven't yet found ours. There is something really beautiful about 'almost' black Tulips. I really should plant some more.
