The Yule Log; its big day.

So here it is, all dressed up, and only one place to go.

As is tradition (in this house), our Yule Log is dressed with Holly, Ivy, berries, and ribbons; in readiness for being placed on the fire later this evening.

It's forecast to be a reasonably warm day, but even so I'll really get the fire blazing tonight, I don't want any risk of finding lumps of unburnt wood tomorrow morning (which would detract from the good omen).

And if Santa comes by, I'm sure he'll appreciate the extra warmth. I'll leave him some Scotch and a Mince Pie too.

Carols from Kings this evening, and the big day tomorrow; I can't wait.

    1. Thank you Jacqueline. No tree here this year, but plenty of Glitz. Off to buy the Turkey, and hopefully some Sprouts, this morning; then I'm done. Looking forward to Carols from Kings this evening; to me it is the start of Christmas. Best wishes, Cro x

  12. The log looks too big for the stove but I suppose it is an optical illusion. Have a good day today, I like Christmas Eve and it being a working day. Brings a bit of normality to the scene, people earning a living and working. As you say, Christmas starts tonight with Carols from Kings. That is when it always started for me if I got home from work on time. Happy Christmas Cro xx

  14. You've reminded me that we used to keep back an impressive log for Christmas Day, but I don't think we dressed it. A quiet day for us here in West Wales, everything ready bar the cranberry sauce! Happy Christmas!

  15. Thank you everyone for your best wishes. I am just back from lunatic shopping. I had to visit 4 shops for my Sprouts. It's crazy out there, just pleased I can now settle down to some peace and quiet (until I have to go out).

  16. Don't forget to leave a carrot for Rudolph.

We started yesterday evening with watching the carol Silent Night being sung from different locations around the world and drank a mug or two of warm punch.

    Yule never walk alone, Cro!

  22. I once listened to carols from Kings on the radio driving from Joburg down to Cape Town, it must have been 1984. The sun was setting over the Orange Free State, great drive, marvellous music. I had been away from home for 2 years and it really brought it home.
