The world's most controversial song?

Are you amazed by this nonsensical PC controversy? Me too.

  1. Love both versions but better with Dean Martin's sleepy/sexy voice.
The original from days gone by was an innocent tune from innocent days gone by.

    1. I envisage a time when couples will need to sign a pre-snog agreement; in triplicate, of course.

    1. Some people spend their time looking for something to moan about. Ridiculous.

  4. It's open to interpretation, isn't it? It can be seen as predatory on his part, but I prefer to think she wants to stay just as much as he wants her to stay and it's a struggle with morals of the day rather than each other.

    1. I just see it as a nice song about a couple at a party. He wants to stay; she doesn't.

  5. I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok
I sleep all night and I work all day

Here the word has gone apesh_t.
For example we have no more football spectators, but football spectators and spectatoresses. Or no more radio listeners but radio listeners and listeneresses. And you can't have number 18 on your car number plate because people might think you're a right wing fascist ... and so the political correctness goes on ad nauseum.

    1. I tried to leave a comment on Salvador Dali's excellent essay on the art of far_ing (passing wind) but I was knocked back with big yellow B for use the common parlance.

    2. It makes me despair. I suppose I come from a different, more innocent age. We didn't even see anything 'racist' in 'eeny meeny miny mo'.

    3. I don't know how our Eurovision winner Conchita Wurst gets away with it. I mean Rise like a Phoenix. Come on.

  7. Bloody ridiculous !!!!! I’m sure that when the lyrics were written in the 1940’s, there were no hidden , sordid connotations attached !!! ..... and , on a different but similar note, what about new music that has ‘ explicit ‘ written on it ...... that’s deemed as OK as long as you put ‘ explicit ‘ ?!!!! It’s all getting ridiculous. XXXX

  8. I wonder how the old music hall song:"Keep your hand on your ha'penny", would go down today?
