Almost hidden from view under its foliage, our little 'tower' is due for a haircut.
I shan't bother until all the leaves have dropped, but then it'll have some serious pruning. My original intention was to totally clothe it in foliage, but it's gone a little over-the-top.
It's so covered in Wisteria, that I can hardly see it any more.
Just how I like it!
Everything grows well there.
ReplyDeleteToo well some times!
DeleteI once asked an archaeologist why Roman ruins were so deep in the ground. He told me they get overtaken with vegetation which builds up and the level of the ground naturally rises. I think the tower is on the way.
ReplyDeleteI've often wondered that too. Earth must be expanding at quite a rate.
DeleteLove your green hideaway.
ReplyDeleteDon't get carried away with the snipping!
It'll come lower down a bit. It's all over the roof!
DeleteWisteria is beautiful but it does have a tendency to take over.
ReplyDeleteI like that quality of Wisteria, but there's a limit.
DeleteI want to grow Wisteria here because I love the graceful look of the plant, although I know it can be rampant when established.
ReplyDeleteIt's also very forgiving; one can hack at it without it ever complaining.
DeleteWisteria is lovely, but then so is your tower, and it deserves to be seen! We enjoyed some wisteria earlier this year as it is coming over from the adjoining semi into our back garden. We probably need to find out how to prune our end of it, as it will take over like yours has.
ReplyDeleteYou can just cut away at it as you wish; you won't kill it.
Deletejust watch those tendrils growing up under the roof..they can be destuctive
ReplyDeleteI'm just waiting for all the leaves to drop. We had some frost last night, so I expect they'll be down soon. I've been keeping an eye out for mischievous tendrils.
