Five successive 'ands' in a sentence.

Old Mick, the landlord of The Coach and Horses, was having a new sign painted for his pub'.

When the painter brought it to Mick for inspection, he looked at it attentively, then said......

"There's too much space between coach and and, and and and horses". Voila!

And whilst I'm in a pedagogical mood, did you know that there are only two words in the English language that contain all 5 vowels in alphabetical order?

Facetious and Abstemious.

Don't say you don't learn something over at Cro's.

    1. That would be two 'ands' and three 'ans'. Coach 'an and, 'an and 'an 'orses.

  3. Thank you, besides the vowels, I've also learnt two new words today. I thought of the word "ambitious" but realised I was spelling it wrong; with an "e" instead of the 'i' . Silly me! Now I have learnt to spell it correctly. Greetings Maria x

  4. Well I can't say I didn't learn anything. I didn't know about the 'ands'. Oddly enough I did know about facetious and abstemious although I couldn't have told you they were the only two.

  8. And how funny - I was thinking about the Coach and Horses in Farnham yesterday, so Googled it up. It has been closed down like so many other pubs, and is now boarded up with a To Let sign on it.
