Yesterday it was the turn of the Washing-up Machine, and the Fridge to be delivered.
Again, both were ordered through 'Darty', and the same delivery men performed their impeccable routine.
Everything was checked over, and set-up (as far as they could be without electricity).
Before arriving at the barn the delivery men phoned to say they were almost here. Lady Magnon was highly amused when they asked if they were to go down the Chemin de Cro (Cro Road; but using my actual name instead of Cro).
Many years ago, my oldest son, Kimbo, noticed on his Sat Nav that the little road leading down to our tiny hamlet had no name, so he registered it as Chemin de Cro.
We hadn't really thought about it for years, so were thrilled to hear that the name is still registered up there on some distant Sat Nav satellite..... What my neighbours think about it, I can't imagine; maybe they haven't noticed.
Happy to see your fridge and washing machine. It reduces most of your hand work. Surprised to hear that your name has been registered and still it is in use...
ReplyDeleteWe were even more surprised!
DeleteVery smart appliances, especially that lovely big fridge. Chemin de Cro registered in perpetuity, as it should be!
ReplyDeleteMaybe; who knows!
DeleteHoe lovely to have a lane named after you. There can't be many Brits, (or many foreigners) who have that honour in France.
ReplyDeleteThe fridge and dishwasher look very smart and will be a very practical asset to the new kitchen. The only downside with the brushed steel finish is that they mark very easily, so beware sticky little fingers and inquisitive doggy noses !
Our own fridge, which has much the same finish, isn't too bad; the inside is the worst bit.
DeleteAre they opening a restaurant?
ReplyDeleteI hope they'll be feeding ME.
DeleteFrom reading your blog for years Cro I would say that you are worthy of having a road named after you anyway!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Weave.
DeleteChemin de Cro has a nice ring to it.
ReplyDeleteClassy!
DeleteOur new fridge freezer arrived yesterday, guys were helpful, but after they left and we turned it on ( it has to sit for 4 hours to settle) guess what it don't work.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried kicking it?
DeleteWe thumped it, kicked it swore at it, nope still don't work, got a new one coming
DeleteOoh, fridge envy!
ReplyDeleteNice, in't it.
DeleteI have the same fridge and find it does not mark too badly with finger marks as people fear. Might be the brushed look. Great fridge and you'll be surprised how often you use the ice maker and cool water. It's certainly all coming together now.
ReplyDeleteNow all we need are the units to fit around everything.
DeleteI have a star named after me, but as we all know that gas ball has long been gone. A street name, though, will probably remain for generations and you will be spoken about for years to come.
ReplyDeleteThat I doubt, but it's fun whilst it lasts.
DeleteIt's all coming together now Cro. I have fridge envy like Sue !!
ReplyDeleteWhat ' unit look ' are you going for ? ….. I think that I might envy those as well !! XXXX
Not sure yet, we're leaving that to Wills and Kellogg. More than likely something from Ikea.
DeleteYou can't beat a bit of Ikea !! XXXX
DeleteThe ice cubes will be the best thing, I have a smaller one here.
ReplyDeleteThey'd certainly be welcome at the moment.
DeleteVery cool that your road is officially registered by your name. Years ago, my grandfather's street was named after him, too, complete with the street signs. More recently, our younger son has been struggling over whether he and his family should move or not. While trying to reach a decision, they've been looking around. Turns out, the little town they fell in love with has the same name as my son. They took that as a sign. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's definitely fate calling. There's a town in Australia, and an island off Canada named after one of my ancestors.... I've always wondered what it would be like to live there.
DeleteHope no meanies or killers show up at your door now that you have announced it. Having said that, we too have a road named after us at the other side of our acreage. Guess the others down the lane don't care for it as their smartass teenagers keep stealing the sign.
