I'm having computer trouble. I've ordered a new one, but it doesn't arrive until the 9th (next Tuesday).
So, just in case this one should die before then, I would like you to know that I am not spilling tears over my inanimate keyboard; no, I shall be spending my time on alternative leisure pursuits.
This will involve cooling myself off in the pool, and snoozing in the shade of my au vent.
However, I'll probably be back tomorrow, so you can ignore all of the above!
What are you getting? I am having problems here with my 7 year old desktop and am looking at options. I did get a back up tablet recently "just in case". It doesn't seem long since you last changed yours
ReplyDeleteThe screen goes grey and flashes, sometimes it just won't open up at all. I'm annoyed because (as you say) it's quite new. I'm probably being a bit rash, not only have I ordered something for the very first time on-line, but I've also ordered pretty much the same laptop as this one; an Acer E1-572P. I ordered it from Amazon UK, but notice that it comes from Belgium; I'm just praying that it'll come with a QWERTY keyboard.... I did tell them I would accept nothing less.
DeleteI bought my current desk top on line from Dell - it has served me very well. I may get one from them again. As I said I bought a tablet earlier this year as a back up in case everything failed. Good luck with your new one.
ReplyDeleteOur computer "guru" replaced my twelve year old Acer laptop with a Hewlett Packard Compaq. It has a QWERTY keyboard, but with all the different language accents (French, Spanish etc.) and so far has been fine - only downside is it isn't touch screen, which is annoying because so many programmes are designed for this function these days. I use a separate keyboard and wireless mouse, which I find easier on the shoulders than the keyboard on the laptop.
ReplyDeleteYour alternative leisure pursuits are much more civilised than sitting in front of a computer !
It's behaving itself this morning, but I'm assured that its days are numbered. For accents etc I use 'character map' which is free to download, everything imaginable is there. My present laptop is touch-screen.... but I never use it. Old fashioned I suppose.
DeleteYour alternative leisure pursuits look idyllic - good luck with your laptop - it is so frustrating when things start to go wrong.
ReplyDeleteDrives me bonkers, any machine of any sort (car, mower, computer, kettle, pool pump, etc) should fire up as soon as one presses the 'on' button. If not I start to pull out what's left of my hair.
DeleteThought I'd opened a holiday brochure by mistake.....pool and alfresco dining offered and 24 hour room service..
ReplyDeleteBut no view of blue pipes.
DeleteI might get lost.
DeleteIt is good that you let us know, people (me) get worried when someone stops his daily bloging.
ReplyDeleteIt may not happen, but I approached my laptop this morning with trepidation.... I wasn't expecting it to work... however, for the moment....
DeleteLooking at the weather map on TV last night it seems that the heat wave you are experiencing is coming our way - at least to the south of the country. Whether it reaches Yorkshire is quite another matter. Relax and enjoy the sun I say.
ReplyDeleteIf only Lady M would allow me.
DeleteMakes our river and tables made of pallets look a bit poor in comparison. What a lovely setting.
ReplyDeleteA river doesn't require chlorine tabs and constant cleaning, and your pallet table probably saved you a fortune.... there are plus points to everything.
DeleteIt's an epidemic.
ReplyDeleteYes, but is there a panacea?
DeleteIt looks beautiful. It's a crying shame you may have to indulge in alternative pursuits. My laptop is on its last legs, can I come over? X
ReplyDeleteI've ignored it already. C U Next Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteHa, woe is you indeed, we should all be so lucky! Your alternative pursuits look very enticing. And I really like that candle holder.
ReplyDeleteCan you use the laptop in the au vent? I find it difficult to use my laptop outside... Hope your new one arrives pronto!
ReplyDeleteI could do, but I have it plugged into my printer and sound system. Otherwise the WiFi works quite well. My main worry about the new one is the QWERTY keyboard.
DeleteNothing is made to last very long today. They are made to keep economies moving.
ReplyDeleteThis one is only just over a year old. I shall not be sad to be rid of it as the space bar doesn't work too well, and I'm permanently separating words.
DeleteIt looks far more preferable than bashing about on a defunct laptop. Do enjoy!
ReplyDelete28 C in the shade at the moment..... Excuse me for a while.
DeleteIf I lived at your house with that beautiful pool and patio, I'd probably never get around to blogging in the summertime. I'd be outside soaking up paradise! :)
ReplyDeleteI do my blogging in the early hours, plenty of time left for everything else..... mostly being bossed about by Lady M.
DeleteJust ditch the laptop and jump in that pool! Phew, it ain't arf hot today.
ReplyDeleteWot a scorcher!
DeleteThis is the first time I'm here but I had fun reading your post when you said to ignore all above...
ReplyDeleteCheers, Sandra
Hello Sandra!
