No, because the surprises are what make life so damn fascinating!
And as a response to brismod, I suppose one could make the argument that every supper should be good enough to be one's last! (I'll have seconds on that cake, thank-you!)
I would not turn the page, because if I had that kind of information running through my head, all the days I had left would be ruined. However, if the date, cause, and time of my death was followed by the numbers of a winning multi-million dollar lottery ticket, then, yeah, I'd look.
Good Lord No! I'm with T., every supper should be sublime. And once and idea is planted in our simple brains...we head straight for it. Give me the unknown every time...far more opportunities.
The Book of Life? or the registrar's Births, Marriages and Deaths? I look up the Obituaries in the Shropshire Star and if I'm not there I think damn - that's another good day :0)
Molly, I always loved it on The Shropshire Star 'Funerals' page, when people were written down as 'representing' others. The poor junior journalists who had the job of getting it all right must have had kittens. We still have a laugh about 'representing' today.
Jaqueline and Cro - me too. It's good to be anti-morbid I think! Just over a year ago, I had a bit of a flu type thing which lasted 5 months and all but creased me up - so much so that neither me nor my family thought I'd ever see the Spring let alone the Summer. But I did and I'm 100% well again. Life is such a precious gift however long or short it is .... and the fantastic bonus is that I've met all you lovely folks as well.
it's a tricky question, but I think if the book was in front of me I would just have to look, and if no one was watching me I would be looking up the name of someone who had already passed on...just to see if the book was right! Ha! So true Molly life is a precious gift...I love your sense of fun and it is so wonderful that we all have met here on these pages.

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
Oh yes. One likes to have a decent last supper.
ReplyDeleteGood on ya Brismod. I'd have put serious money on a string of NO's.
ReplyDeleteI should say no but I think curiosity might just get the better of me!

ReplyDeleteFive month Flu? That sounds ghastly and intriguing. Glad to hear you pulled through OK.
ReplyDeleteMolly, you have it wrong. It's US who are privileged to have encountered YOU!
Oh yes Cro...I so second that motion!
