Your timing is impeccable, John. This morning I received a (routine) NHS kit to send them a sample of what comes out once it's been in and processed. Something to look forward to, Cro, during your stay in England. The NHS will look after you. Relentlessly. Prevention better than cure. The early bird catches the worm and all that.
Will I be able to bring myself to comply? I suppose I have posted enough shit. So why not go literal? We'll see.
Yes, Rachel, Morricone did have the gift. "Once upon a time in the West" one of my favourite films. One might say Henry Fonda, Charles Bronson and Jason Robards three archetypes of the male.
Cro, Had this been made in the 1960's, the leading female role would have surely gone to Sophia Loren. The music was okay, but Morricone's music for 'Cinema Paradiso' (1988) was absolutely stunning...a tear jerking masterpiece of a film. We can learn a lot from European film makers.
Cro, do watch this youtube, preferably on a proper TV screen rather than a PC (on mine picture quality is quite bad, dark), set to the tune of Mambo Italiano. It's a compilation of film clips with Loren's many leading men (I believe Marlon Brando wept and bled so unobtainable she was to him). And watch out for the little boy she dances with. Joy.
I attended a funeral in early 2019. I knew that Ray had been a big fan of spaghetti westerns, but I was surprised when Ray's coffin entered the church to the theme from 'The good, the bad and the ugly'. It did make me smile, but that was typical Ray.
And some people, Cro, do have a lucky escape.

I was thinking that as I wrote the above.
DeleteSo sad and sweet.
ReplyDeleteAlmost a whole movie in 5 mins.
DeleteNice tune for stalking to.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that scare the Deer away?
DeleteIt did the dear shot off on a train.
DeleteThe film was so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA classic. Beautifully filmed in all respects.
DeleteSo romantic.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I meant to say how uncanny that woman looks just like me!
DeleteMay I have your Phone No?
DeleteLovely, now I must watch the film, thanks Cro!
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonderful film; very Italian.
DeleteMorricone's music is wonderful. I first noticed him in Cinema Paradiso, although I then realised I knew rather a lot of other things he'd written.
ReplyDeleteI've always associated his name with cinema music, but wouldn't have able to pinpoint any specific film.
Delete'beeeeen' able.
DeleteWhen you are as old as me you can do without this kind of thing - brought tears to my eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope they were happy tears; otherwise I apologise.
DeleteMalena in nursing parlance means blood in your poo
ReplyDeleteDid you really have to tell us that! YUK.

I wrote about Morricone in July 2020 when he died. He wrote the Spaghetti Western music.
ReplyDeleteHe's always just been a name to me. I really should look-up his credits.

DJ, I could never understand why she married Ponti. Not unlike Mrs Kennedy marrying Onassis.
DeleteI loved that Monsieur Cro. Thanks for sharing. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGood. It's nice to share excellence.

ReplyDeleteGood for him. However, I do cringe when I hear 'My Way'.
DeleteBeautiful cinema. Fascination is real and often short term.
ReplyDeleteBut Oh, how it hurts!
