It used to be. Today there are fewer and fewer pigeons in the city squares because people no longer travel there as they used to. I read about it. I do not know if this is really true. Anyway the homeless got really practical advice.
Love all three ..... wish Victoria Wood was still with us. There have been weekly programmes about her called ‘ Our Victoria ‘ over the past few weeks.( you probably saw them ) We saw her live at the Royal Albert Hall .... she was so good. She is missed by many. XXXX
Victoria Wood had the eye and the ear for the finer details of everyday British life. I miss her take on it enormously. This sketch is one I have never seen before.

the lovely things about where our house is, is that it's a stones throw

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
Victoria Wood!!.Such a funny lady and still sadly missed!,x

ReplyDeleteWe used to know a Greek girl whose mother would grab Pigeons off the street to eat. I like wild Pigeon, but I've never had a city Pigeon.

ReplyDeleteThey were good programmes
DeleteNo, I didn't see them. VW was very special, she had a wonderful stage presence. I liked her songs too. These people are rarities.

ReplyDeleteIt's beautifully done, by all three. Good classic British humour.
DeleteI wish someone would come and eat the pigeons that keep invading my garden.
ReplyDeleteGet a gun; they're very good eating!
DeleteToo many neighbours, my aim is not good!
DeleteBrilliant. So very British. Always positive. A lovely "Cheerio" as they walk on.
ReplyDeleteAs you say; very British. I love this type of dry humour.
