Re giant cous cous. My friend andI had it in a restaurant - it was one of the best salads we have had in ages. We have both looked everywhere for it but couldn't find any until finally my friend found some in a Health Food Shop in Richmond. It needs cooking like risotto rice but the result was rather good but not as good as the salad in the restaurant - I think it had more herbs in it. I just put lots of chopped mint, along with small bits of cucumber, tomato and spring onion and then quite a lot of honey and mustard dressing. We shall revisit the restaurant and ask if they will give us the recipe.
I just love Tracy and this one was terrific. We make Couscous all the time so easy. I even have it For breakfast with a hard boiled egg and chopped tomatoes. I never liked mint so I don't use it just salt pepper, lemon and olive oil.
Oh my god, how I laughed and laughed! Thanks for that. I will now "go down the rathole" of YOUTUBE and spend/wast an hour enjoying her. I can't resist!

Optimistic Cro!
The difference between an optimist and a pessimist, is that the optimist enjoys himself whilst waiting for the inevitable! I AM that optimist!
This is a daily, optimistic, 'photos and comments' blog. I make no judgements (only occasionally), just notes. If you wish to comment in any way at all, please feel free. Everything and everyone (except the obdurate and dictatorial) is very welcome.
I was born just south of London, but for the past 50 years I've lived in S W France. I am a painter by profession, and writer by desire. Lady Magnon and I live between an ancient cottage in a tiny village in perfectly tranquil French countryside, and a bijou townhouse in Brighton UK. In France we have plenty of fruit trees, all situated amongst a view that takes the breath away, in the UK we have a handkerchief sized patio. We also have a Border Collie called Billy. I try to treat our planet with respect, and encourage others to do likewise (without preaching).
Contentment is a glass of red, a plate of charcuterie, and a slice of good country bread. Perfect!
It's 6 am on Sunday morning. I can hear a 'Rave' going on somewhere in the woods, and it's just started thundering. Strange summer.
ReplyDeleteWe have just had a thunder storm.
DeleteA rave in the woods? Are the visitors up early? It took me a second to get it but it was funny Camilla calling the notes, mothers in law.
ReplyDeleteThe 'Rave' seems to have ended, I expect the cops have been there confiscating all their dope and flared trousers again.
DeleteOh I say, how wonderful! She's good.
ReplyDeleteOne very funny woman!
DeleteI do think it was rather funny.
ReplyDeleteFrightfully, dwarling.
DeleteCan't think of a suitably posh reply!
ReplyDeleteWe don't do 'posh' here!

ReplyDeleteWe make Taboulé in summer. Couscous, chopped Toms and Onion, chopped Mint, Olive oil, Lemon juice, S & P.
DeleteBrilliant
ReplyDeleteI think her C P-B is her best.
DeleteI shall have to get some of those leggings for dog walking.
ReplyDeleteAnd some of the animal print Jodhpurs, I hope.
DeleteMs. Ullman had a TV show here in North America in the mid-80s. Then she just disappeared off the North American rada.
ReplyDeleteI never see her on TV. Maybe she's on some channel I don't receive.

Couscous is a 'regular' in this house; usually eaten with a spicy Lamb or Chicken Tagine.
