I found this photo posted on my Facebook page yesterday. It immediately attracted my attention. A pair of twins, I thought.
But look again, it is in fact a woman, and a knitted version of herself and her dog! Yes, she knitted herself and her dog to perfection.
How totally wonderful.
Incredible, I love it, she has a playful spirit.
ReplyDeleteSuperb.... we need more knitters like her!
DeleteThat is really clever.
ReplyDeleteA very clever lady.
DeleteIncredible. She's an amazing knitter
ReplyDeleteI wonder how long it took her?
DeleteClever but very weird
ReplyDeleteI see it as a beautiful self-portrait.
DeleteNot reet in the heed. As they say round here.
ReplyDeleteI beg to differ, I think it's highly intelligent piece of work.
DeleteClassic.
ReplyDeleteI hope it ends-up in a museum, with the photo alongside it.
DeleteYou see it as art, which of course it is. As a knitter myself I know the work thats gone into that. Art takes all forms.
ReplyDeletePeter Blake's first wife, Jann Harworth, produced knitted sculptures. She was highly regarded, but I haven't heard her name mentioned for decades.
Deletemeant to comment on your video of the French guys. Absolutely love them!
ReplyDeleteVincent and Arthur are very classic French guys. They talk of little else but hunting, eating, and drinking.
DeleteThat is quite amazing. I have trouble just knitting a scarf.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who has a machine, and she knits amazing things.
DeleteThat s truly clever. We have a knitter in Norfolk who can recreate anything in knitting. She recently knitted the Sandringham Estate which took her two years and was on display in Norwich as a centre piece for Christmas. She is 92 years old. I am sure she would have no trouble with knitting herself.
ReplyDeleteLady M doesn't knit, but she does crochet. During lockdown I tried to get her to do a portrait of Boris, but she refused. Shame!
DeleteUtterly astonishing!!!
ReplyDeleteI want one of me!
DeleteGiven a choice, I would pick the knitted version as she would be much quieter. I agree with Caz P above - that really is Art.
ReplyDeleteI thought you were going to say because the knitted one couldn't do any more knitting.
DeleteBrilliant.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteNow that's the sort of art I like! I'm a knitter myself and could happily knit the jumper, trousers and hat and maybe even the dog, but I'd have a really hard time with the person. Amazing, she's really done a brilliant self portrait.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw the photo, I genuinely thought they were twins. I needed my glasses to see they were not.
DeletePeople did have a lot of time on their hands while stuck home during Covid! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just about the best use of that free time.
DeleteThat's wonderful, what a very talented knitter! I crochet, but the art of knitting is not for me.
ReplyDeleteI may as well be given two javelins instead of knitting needles, I know what to do with them!
We are together on this. I have never learned to knit, and I have no desire to do so, but I do admire those who do such wonderful things
DeleteVery odd. No knitting for me. No thank you. Good for Lady M. refusing to crochet a CM. Maybe you should take up knitting? Who knows what you could produce in a lesson or two.
ReplyDeleteI can knit a line, but have no idea what to do afterwards.
DeleteThe picture made me laugh out loud. Delightful!
ReplyDeleteHow weird. The dog is vry lifelike.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the knitted dog to the real one.
DeleteShe'll always know where to find the other sweater.
ReplyDeleteBut she might be confused over the dogs!
