Phew, it's a stinker!

From what I read, we're about to have a heatwave. This week temperatures are set to nudge 40 C. Far too hot. Yesterday afternoon was already too hot to work outside. I do love Summer, but this is too much.

So, we'll be eating simple salads for both lunch and supper, drinking chilled wine, and spending most of the day in the pool. We'll be keeping well away from direct sunshine. Hats will be worn.

As Noel Coward advises 'The sun is far too sultry, one must avoid its ultry-violet rays'

  3. Those hard boiled eggs in the picture look delicious. I must remember to hard boil a few myself. And to make a few baked egg custards.

    1. A few halved hard-boiled eggs with a dollop of Mayo and a sprinkling of curry powder, are the best addition to any salad.

    1. I've just come back from mushrooming, and I'm already sweating. It's the humidity as much as the temperature.

  5. We are reading about the heat wave over there. Thankful it's still cool here. At least you have your pool.

  7. Hot, hot hot.
Our temperatures are set to soar into the low twenties over here for the next few days. Thankfully that won't last long before the usual cool showery summer returns.

    1. Summer has really begun here, high temperatures far into the future (about two weeks anyway).

  9. I couldn't stand that sort of heat, we've had up to 23C over here this week and that's been quite enough for me!

    1. Above 25 C I find it debilitating. It's 30 C at the moment, and I have to do some mowing. I'll throw myself in the pool later.

  12. Hopefully the heatwave will not last long. Your light salad meal looks terrific. Several swims throughout the day will be enjoyed. Staying hydrated in this heat will be important as well.

    1. Swimming, cold drinks, and staying out of the sun, are what we are doing. Too hot for much else; although I've just been mowing the orchard.

  13. The spread on your table looks so appetizing! Yum. We're having a heatwave with temperatures the same as yours (of course I had to check my F to C calculator). I despise this kind of heat. It's not fit for man or beast outside!
