  3. His words have stood the test of time, many of which were ahead of his time. I am a great fan of Russell and recommend all volumes of his autobiography as essential reading for all.

    1. I think I wrote when you mentioned him previously that when I was at school he was very highly regarded. These days he seems to have been forgotten.

    2. I think I featured the whole of the 1959 interview on my blog a few years ago. 30 minutes BBC Face to Face. Are any philosophers really talked about these days?

    3. In France 'Philosophy' is the first paper one sits for the annual Baccalaureate exams (A Levels). Philosophers are taken very seriously, both present and past.

    4. When teaching, my philosophy always was that 'education' should provoke questions, not provide answers. I stressed this to my pupils of all ages, and I think they understood and appreciated it.

    5. Philosophy departments and courses offered in applied philosophy in English universities are on the decline so I was told by my Philosophy teacher two years ago.
