It is well known that Charles Dickens published many of his stories as weekly instalments, in papers or magazines.
When he wrote 'A Tale of Two Cities' he published simultaneously in The Bicester Times and The Worcester Times.... Boom Boom!
A diverse offering twixt the interesting, the unusual, and the amusing.
Ouch!
ReplyDeleteExactly... but a good joke!
DeleteNice one Dickens!
ReplyDeleteIt's a Dickins of a Joke.
DeleteThat's not a Christmas joke. It's one for All The Year Round.
ReplyDeleteWell, it was Christmas here!
DeleteSorry, too clever by half.
Delete"Boom Boom!"? Was Dickens also the creator of Basil Brush?
ReplyDeleteQuite possibly!
DeleteFar too intellectual for a Christmas cracker joke for us …
ReplyDeleteWhat do you call an old snowman ?
WATER !!!!
That’s out standard of jokes 🤣😂🤣 XXXX
Cracker 'jokes' are the worst.
DeleteHa ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you enjoyed it; that makes two of us!
DeleteI’ve never taken to Dickens
ReplyDeleteI think I've read most of them, but I did recently hear a short story on Radio 4 extra called 'A Christmas Tree' which I'd not come across before. I'm sure you would have enjoyed it.
DeleteThat's a good joke. I have a copy of A Tale of Two Cities, also a copy of Great Expectations. I should read them once more before I give them away. I'm culling the bookshelves.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved A Tale of Two Cities; such a good story.
