Terms & Conditions.

As most people are aware, I'm a rather ordinary, bucolic, 'middle of the Road', law-abiding, liberal thinker, and as such I have very few 'rules' as to who I allow to comment on this page; or even what I find acceptable.

I don't tolerate abusive or insulting language, either aimed at myself, or between visiting commentators. Such people will be deleted at once.

I don't care for radical born-again religious fundamentalists, nor do I allow extreme political views from either the right or the left.

With the left having experienced such a trouncing in the recent UK general election, I've noticed that recently their supporters have begun leaving irrational, extreme, and unacceptably disturbing comments. They too will be deleted. Sadly we are witnessing a massive rise in such radicalism across the UK and elsewhere, and it worries me.

My third criteria has always been to eliminate 'trolls'; those who visit simply to be abusive and contrary. I have no time for them.

As for the Snake oil salesmen, Witch doctors, ATM scammers, and the so-called Illuminati, they are simply puerile, and their posts will be sent directly to my spam folder.

It's not a pleasant thing to do, but occasionally I do find it obligatory to 'un-follow' certain bloggers. This is not because I wish to stop free-speech, but because occasionally certain people become ever more extreme and abusive; almost because it's expected of them. No doubt alcohol plays a big part in such outbursts, so some leeway has previously been offered.

Some may remember a blogger who become totally obsessed by religion; his page continues, but he now has no visitors.

'Un-following' may also give them the opportunity to reflect on their beliefs or behaviour, although it appears that some are so entrenched in their radicalism, that I fear this is no more than wishful thinking.

Otherwise, all other comments are extremely welcome.

  1. I'd noticed you'd deleted some comments on your last post. Over my years of blog reading I have come to the conclusion that alcohol might be the driver behind some overfamiliar or abusive comments or sometimes even ranting posts. If I don't agree with the post content I wouldn't waste my time commenting.
As for unfollowing, I think people would not give a hoot if you unfollowed them.
I have a clutch of blogs I read, some who post regularly, some who don't and a handful who write beautifully and are always a pleasure to read.
    Such is blogging life.

    1. I don't like to 'un-follow' people, and have only done it a few times. I'm sure you're right, and they couldn't care less, but I see it as some sort of mutual failure; their failure to control themselves, and my failure to tolerate. I'm one of those people who very rarely gives a second chance, but in the world of blogging I probably give far too many.

    2. Am so happy to share this testimony with everyone about how i got my herpes cured from Dr. Obela the godfather of herbal medicine. I had been going from one country to another for medication for 3 years just to be cured from herpes but all seems in vain, i was confused and decided to search through the Internet if i could get any news concerning herpes so i do keep searching until i visited one particular site and i saw the great testimonies from different persons testifying how Dr. Obela has cure them from herpes and other diseases and i was shock and was thinking if this is real, after a due consideration i decided to contact him with the email address I found in the posted just to give it a trial and when i contacted him he proved to me that his herbal medicine can cure me if only i believe in him, so i requested for his herbal medicine and i got it and i applied it as prescribed and after 1weeks and 3 days of application i went for a test and to my greatest shock the herpes virus has disappeared and it was just like a dream. Today I am cured from herpes am so happy and thanking God for using Dr. Obela to cure me. so if you are out there and you are suffering for herpes cure or any kind of illness kindly contact Dr. Obela through he will help you to cure that illness. you can get in touch with him via: drobelaspellhome@gmail.com or call/whatsapp him on this number +2347084171950.. Thanks very much DR. Obela

  2. I'm perhaps a little more forgiving than you and it's been a long time since I have had problems with comments aside from spam. I've only unfollowed some American religious nutter and actively stopped him following me.

    1. The religious maniac that I mentioned above was a perfectly 'normal' blogger, who suddenly changed into a preaching nutter who could think of nothing else. Goodness knows what happened to him, or who got to him, but I imagine that it ruined his life.

  3. Scammers annoy me most because it doesn't matter how many times I put them in spam sometime they will return, or another will turn up.
My blog interests come and go and I follow and unfollow on a whim. But then now and again I'll pop back to see what's going on. I read far too many blogs and sometimes I'll delete half a dozen just to shorten the list.

    1. I do much the same with blogs that haven't been updated for several months. No point keeping them. I'm not sure, but I think I follow about 10.

  4. Sometimes those we delete do care later. I have had it happen to me. I know you are a good man and that is all that matters to me. x

  5. Blogging and commenting can cause a bit of friction and, like you say, alcohol can be the culprit sometimes and maybe what is going on in people’s lives. I also think that things get lost in translation on occasion as well. I guess we are all different with different views on things but things can get heated ! I just talk and post a load of shallow rubbish most of the time and think it’s usually best to keep out of politics which can gets a bit heated ... I’ve never liked confrontation or arguments ..... I’m a bit of a wimp 🤣

    1. I enjoy good debate, but I don't like bigoted nonsense. I suppose my page is a bit 'flighty', but I tend to blog about our everyday events.

  6. I follow a few blogs but never comment on anything contentious. Like Jacqueline, above, I avoid any confrontation and am also a terrible wimp.
I always enjoy reading your blog anyway x

  8. The left are becoming more deranged daily. They certainly don't handle rejection well! Witness the farce in the US with Trump. Had the Democrats actually acted like an opposition, instead of a bunch of deranged lunatics, Trump would have certainly been a one term president. Now it looks increasingly likely he will win a second term! Just like Labour corbynites they listen only to their own echo!

    1. As I have so often said, the one thing the left hate more than anything else, is success from the right. At the moment they plenty to be hateful about!

    2. Being on "the left" is about social justice and fairness - striving for a better world in which the poor and disadvantaged do not get left behind. It's simple really though I agree that "the left" certainly did hate the rise of facism in Nazi Germany, Italy and Spain etc.. Was it wrong to fight against such movements?

    3. What you have described is what the left SHOULD be about. In fact, as everyone knows, they always leave behind increased unemployment, and the finances in a mess. Under the last Labour government, Blair also left behind a terrible mess in the Middle East, The UK Borders Act of 2007 (which was responsible for over 29,000 deportations), and Brown's privatisation of the NHS costing Britain £300 Billion; as well as selling off all the UK's Gold

I'm sorry to have to burst your idealistic bubble, but the truth is important.

    4. Well Yorkshire the left did and still do by and large support the ideas of Marx and Lenin. Those two along with their fellow travellers killed over 150 million people in the last century. Most of them were civilians. In comparison Hitler and his cronies was a rank amateur! Oddly the left never mention where their ideas and support led. It is airbrushed from their memories.

    1. The one who has, more than once, wished death upon me in your comment box? Comments he left and you let stand despite the fact that you forbid arseholes to comment?

Oh, John, take a leaf out of Cro's book and make peace.

  10. Cro, your terms and conditions are clear. Unlike those of some bloggers who apply one law, in the comment box, to some and another to others.

In the wake of your initial post and comments left by other of your readers, I'd say: We are all on a learning curve. Or should be. I have learnt tons over the years. How not to say what comes natural. How to package things better rather than causing affront. How to accept that some are flakes living in their echo boxes.

Alas, some will not learn, will make no attempt to make no amends. Meet some way down the line. They are like fossils. Cast in stone.

You and I have made our peace and I do commend and respect you for it, hugely. Little can not be mended with give and take, patience and good will on all sides.

    1. Alas, some are beyond all hope, but usually some compromise can be reached. Maybe I should simply steer clear of controversy; but I doubt if I will.
